  1. So while my partner and I have been road tripping round the Naki and lower parts of the North Island the painter has been quite busy.
  2. With a 195/50-15 tyre. They should look pretty good I hope.
  3. Have been toying with different wheel ideas. Then remembered I have a set of Peugeot 205 Factory Speedlines (which are one of my favorite wheels ) in storage. So i dug them out and offered one up against the car to get an idea.. excuse the tyre size. But you get the idea. Before pic...
  4. More progress today at the paint shop.
  5. Hahahaha... Cheers. I've only driven it twice and that was enough to convince me to keep it and give it some love.
  6. Not huge progress but hopefully tonight it'll be all primed up.
  7. Had to run a few errands this afternoon so called in to check out progress..
  8. Decided while I had the bonnet emblem off I'd give it a birthday too.
  9. Today i spoke to my tame painter and he said he could squeeze my bonnet and roof painting in this week. So i removed the screen washers, aerial, roof trim and wipers in preparation for dropping it off to him. Hopefully it'll be done by the weekend...
  10. Only two real negatives 1. The rego has lapsed and 2. The clearcoat has gone on the roof and bonnet. It's only done 160 000kms and is pretty mint for it's age.
  11. Removed the dead battery and fitted and new one. Tried to start but no go. Checked and found with a sniff of engine start it would fire. Found the fuel pump fuse had blown, replaced fuse and it blew as soon as i turned the key on. I suspect the 13 year old fuel and gone off and lack of use the fuel pump had seized. So i removed the pump module from the tank and replaced the pump with a generic pump until i can source a genuine one. Tried it again and viola! She runs ! Thought it now deserved a wash after having a long sleep in a dusty garage.
  12. Hi. A few weeks ago a good friend of mine who owns a towing business called me asking if i was interested in a little Peugeot that he had to tow from a ladies garage. The story goes that she parked the car up 12 or 13 years ago and just left it in her garage. She recently passed away and her son was coming up to Mangere to empty out her house and get rid of the car. That's where, for once, i was in the right place at the right time. So my mate turns up two days before Xmas with this little 106 GTi on the back of his tow truck.
  13. Refitted it back into the car for some Sunday afternoon feel goods...
  14. Managed to source a correct Smiths Chronometric face for my tacho. So stripped the gauge and fitted the new face. Cleaned it all up and refitted it along with the NOS speedo to the dash.
  15. Finally received my Chronometric Speedo from the US and A. These are what the works Mk1's used back in the day and are almost impossible to find now. This one popped up on Ebay 6 weeks ago and I had to have it... Bonus is that it is NOS ! Wasn't cheap tho...
  16. I'll finish this off with some more sanding then a clear coat to seal it all in. Job # 9987 done.
  17. Then I draw filed and sanded back the black paint to leave some nice fresh alloy..
  18. Once the warmth came back i added a few coats of satin black
