  1. Yes , you would say your car was too low when you have to corner slowly to reduce the scraping the exhaust has on the road... Would putting something along the lines of rubber in some of the coils to dampen the compression be a stupid idea?
  2. That will be added to the list of things to do I guess. Any by not too pricey, how much cash are we talking - guesstamation? Are there any DIY solutions in the mean time that wont take up much cash. Need the cash to get it road legal again!
  3. OK, here is a picture of my problem so you know what I am talking about. When I have a bit of weight in the back - eg passengers etc this happens. Exhaust used to hit the ground sometimes while cornering - had that repaired and not wanting a repeat! I don't want to lift the cars ride height as I think it is perfect but are there any ways to prevent the springs from compressing so much - like in the picture. I believe it has coils all around and captive cut at the back. Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question, still learning the basics. Thanks
  4. Bogging does happen a LOT less. I kind of noticed it a little today when I floored it on the Highway. I do have a feeling the fuel pump has something to do with it. Wiring seems a little dodgy. These are Hitachi SU carbs too. Will that make any differences on the previous fixes? Dont have much time to fix car soon as school starts again...
  5. Yeah Il be keen for that Glenn thanks. Depends if I have the car or not. Might be in Hornby for a few days getting rust repairs.
  6. Driving happily yesterday and engine just got quiet then stopped. Car continued rolling so I dropped the clutch in 2nd, sounded as if it wanted to start. Left it in safe spot. Tried starting 3 hours later, nothing. Battery was good, everything seemed good. Unplugged the tacho wire from the coil. Started first pop. Logic??
  7. Since the new extractors and exhaust etc I have noticed that there isn't really any bogging. It accelerates a lot faster and goes way smoother. "I think it sounds mint, what do ya think?" "I think it sounds fucking awesome!" - Glenn. I think I will work on getting a WOF first before I worry about performance issues
  8. Goes right up with a little bit of pressure (not much)and drops/lowers gently. (Topped it up with 3 in 1 oil not too long ago) sounds like youve had loads of experience (: No idea what you are saying with jets though 1 1/4 for the air filter sizes too apparently.
  9. Got the extractors all the way back to the tip of the exhaust re-done. Guys at Muffler Magoo did a good job I think. - See what Felix says when he visits. Did take slightly longer then what they said but they did clean out the carburetors and a load of advice on things to fix up. Makes me wish I knew how to weld. As you can see, still looking for some air filters for my carbs.
  10. Thanks for the ideas guys. Will try out some fixes when I get the car back later in the week. (Getting new extractors and exhaust installed) It has an electric fuel pump where the wiring used to play up and Hitachi twin SU style carbs. (Which I'm still looking for air filters to suit) .
  11. Thanks, I will look into that. I get the car back from Mechanic in a few days. (new exhaust) Hes cleaned the carburettors too, so if that hasn't fixed it I'll let you know. Also have got NO experience on tuning.. Yet anyways.
  12. Something that I have noticed with my Datsun, is that when I accelerate (In a hurry anyways) is that it sounds as if the fuel is cutting out. The engine goes then is silent and goes (In quick recessions). It goes back to normal when I take foot off accelerator and then accelerate again. Is this just me going to hard on it or is there something wrong with the fuel pump? Running A15 engine with electronic fuel pump. Sorry if its a stupid question, Not the most car savvy person.
  13. Previous owner did say he was rear ended, maybe that's just not the problem. Thanks for the offer though, but we aren't Hopefully there's another GC like you down here.
  14. Yeah, Wednesday sounds sweet. Ill be home before dark anyways, Any other day I'll be home 7:30 at the latest. Thanks man, see you then.
  15. Didn't Pass the WOF the other day. A few problems that I can sort out, But some of the bigger issues would be little bits of rust Anyone got any ideas on who to go that can get these fixed up decently with out leaving me broke? (Only high school student) -Rust top of right sill/bottom of right A pillar -Rust around rear boot latch mount -Align Headlights -Headlight dip switch faulty -Exhaust leaks & mounts missing -Left front wheel bearing loose & rumbly Thats a bit of rust on the right hand sill, front drivers door. Only about 2mm big ( the hole anyways) There is also some in the boot too. That there is the bottom of the boot latch mount. Half the reason this is here (I'm guessing) is because it had previously been rear ended. So I need a solution to that. I do have the correct paint too. I will be getting a quote on exhaust leaks tomorrow also. Need this car back on the road as its my daily!!
  16. Discussion - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34405&p=872215 Iv bought a 1987 Datsun Sunny after "Felix" off here ( my neighbour ) suggested it. Probably to keep me away from the "Boy racer" scene haha. It came of a guy named Josh, "Mr.mk1" from OS Its a mint car, being first manual and all. So far I have only added a new battery but I do have a few plans for her. Not being the most car savvy person I've decided to join the Oldschool community for some advice.
