  1. Brought myself a mighty sigma wagon about two months ago for $350 and I decided it's about time to make a build thread Yoeddenz will be happy about that. It currently has a 2 litre donk in it with some Coby extractors and a free flowing exhaust, used to be a wee 1600 so not sure if its got a ten bolt diff or not, does have a one piece drive shaft though. As it sits now I have given it a wee tune, put everything on the carb where it shoud be, has a dodgy fuel tee though. Yay for exhaust cement and a old celica fuel rail. Right now I just need to get the intermittent idle sorted and the timing done, then she shall be a mint summer cruiser. Plans are going to be sorting some low and some widened steels then thinking of finding a turbo rvr motor and attaching that to the sigma box along with a possible Hilux rear end or something that I can get disc brakes from and an easily acquirable lsd. Anyway enough chat here are some pictures, It's a twin headlight GE model. Bonus points for the JAF badge? Has an Ugly grey primer hatch on it but I have a mint one that just needs the glass swapping over. Mint hatch with badges.
  2. Its a 1981 Mitsubishi sigma wagon hatch. I'll stick up a build thred with some photos in a moment, at a guess it will be a rubber seal.
  3. I have gotten sick of having an ugly grey primer hatch on my wagon as i smashed the window on my good rust free hatch and was wondering if anyone has a diy they could link me to or is there anyone in nelson that could possibly help me with this. . . Cheers Chris
  4. On choke my 4g63 sounds like a rotor has quite a mint pulse also Its fooled quite a few people at gas stations. I'm just sick of the mad over fueling and having to ride the clutch to get the car moving on cold startups, its just the factory carb and it also runs on quite badly. Any ideas?
  5. It actually sounds like a flat tire.. It's a left rear drive shaft (half shaft?) not the main one.
  6. Really light in the rear, previous owner has done skids everywhere and now the poor wagon has a bent drive shaft so i was hoping i could get a stronger rear end and some sort of bigger brakes or discs as i want to 4g63t it. So an lsd would be mint. It also has this noise coming from the rear end of the car that sounds like a rumble as you drive along not a wine like a diff but a rumble, could this be the bent drive shaft?
  7. Hey there fellow old schoolers, I have recently purchased a 1981 Sigma wagon with a sohc 4g63 used to be a 1600 and have a couple of questions. Is there any disc brake rear ends that are easily adaptable or go straight on, would also like to know if there is a ten bolt lsd diff option. Or would i have a smaller diff being a 1600 and all. Another option is, is it possible to adapt disc brakes to the drum rear end? It has a one piece Drive shaft yay for no chronic vibrations. Must make a build thread when there is nothing on tv.... Last question is is there a power steering rack that will fit in? Cheers
  8. Decided to just +t this other 20v silvertop engine i have in a ae101 levin. . . decided to pull it apart for some maintenance and its clean as in there. . . Doing it this way i can keep the cost down and get all the tuning done before i drop it into an old school car of my choice... Defiantly going in something old school and right wheel drive eventually. Basic parts list is as follows so maybe i can get help sourcing. TRD 0.8mm steel Headgasket ARP Mains and Bigends or oem ones Would like adjustable cam gears to get rid of vvt (not necessary) Water pump and cam belt kit Exhaust Gasket Megasquirt or simmilar if its cheap =) Rings kit for ae101 supercharged pistons I think that is all for now.. Cheers
  9. Wanting to keep factory 20v 8,500 redline. Is upgrading the rod bolts worthwhile?
  10. Does anyone have an engine stand i can borrow? In the nelson region
  11. aiming for 9 - 10 can be done cheaply with a thiner headgasket and ae101 4agze pistons.
  12. I haven't gotten it skimmed yet but the piston has dented it in about 0.5 - 1mm, pretty decent skim if i do choose to get it done.
  13. This sounds like my kinda set up, what kinda power was that making? What sort of boost level are you aiming for? Silver tops are about 10.5:1 CR std, guess you would need to drop it down to about 8.5 / 9? (I know nothing about turbo's btw, just interested) I was using the setup with different pistons, but made a safe 230hp at the wheels, could have streached it more but i like the reliability of that so just kept it safe. Did it run no4 big end bearing? Why not get a good non damaged, flat head? Plenty of them around?? Could well be cheaper than machining?? It will cost me $68.00 to get the head machined. It didn't run a bearing the rod snapped
  14. I'm going to have to get the head skimmed quite a bit the piston has dented it on the forth cyl. Will post pictures tonight, Not sure if it will change the compression ratio in that cyl a fair bit or not. I'm going to be using a ae101 4agze block and 8.9.1 pistons =)
  15. Looking for a trd 2mm thick headgasket... going to need it after getting the head skimmed to remove a dent where the piston hit it =(
  16. Ported and polished the head today, went alright deciding weather i should get the head skimmed or not..
  17. Going to use a megasquirt V3 at this point, Going to grab the diy kit and build it myself. Yes, I have tried giving the cams a glean in both petrol and degreaser.
  18. First question is for pointers on cleaning my cam shafts? I'm also looking for 4age parts for a rebuild if anyone can help me out. 4agze block with 20v head Cheers Bmx-i-can
  19. Discussion thread here.. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=31235 Decided i wanted to build a 20v turbo engine, Haven't really sorted a car yet but hope to con a corona wags out of my mate =D Anyway so far the build up is as follows Purchased a manifold and 38mm waste-gate from a local shop here in Nelson. Wasn't the cheapest but i got a good deal in the end. Next i brought a silvertop engine for 100 bucks with a hole in the side of the block... Dirty as! Dreading what im gonna find... Well here is what blew a hole in the block... Good rod/piston for comparison Just a picture of the muck inside of this engine... A few beers for the boys.. Stuck the head in the dishwasher... Cheapest way to clean a head ever? Good ol kiwi ingenuity. Does anyone have some pointers on getting the cams nice and shiny? Some four throttle Goodness.. Anyway i'm currently waiting on a 4agze block and pistons i brought off trademe then i'll start putting this engine together. Will try to keep this updated as new parts arrive as i'm a poor student so i'm trying to do this on the cheap..
