Ole man Marcroft’s place….polisher extraordinaire…. related to the mad hater though…..
There use to be a shit load of old engines is he still there?
Do you know anything about the guy round the conner with all the shit in his yard?

I can't get this Dnepr to run properly, its like a bad condenser, its backfiring under load, iI tried 3 different brand new condensers, its sparking at the points alot, I have a 0.22 mf condenser, changed the coil to, I am wondering if it being 6v makes it require a higher capacity condenser?

What about scrape the gasket off and use a bit of silicon?

They're actually very competitively priced, do you just mimic the old muffler when deciding size and weld in the same place?
Basically just cut out the old muffler but with my friends 57 Fairlane its getting 2" duels with 10" Cobys up by the transmission, will sound nice with the old Y block

What's the go with those are they actually pretty mint?
I have been fitting them them to everything from motorcycles to lawn mowers, they do one called a Super Coby that has a chamber in the front that sounds super nice on an old 6 cylinder, I had some of them on a v8 with duels and it was nice, I have one on my 4 cylinder Volvo

This whole thread should be renamed where to weld the Coby in

Is the wreckage available ? FWIW there's a Bradford van running around Waiheke island now with a pair of Norton ES2 barrels on it. I'm told it's still alive - it was built here in ChCh in the 70's by some guys I knew. Not hard to graft cylinders onto a flat twin.
They called it the Bradnaught.
I will enquire about the blown engine

That place in the Ukraine looks good, 2500 nzd + shipping, I wonder how much that would be? They sed they have to take it apart a bit to make it into 3 parcels, its the OHV one I am after.
Probably end up costing over 4k?

Not super horrible, a new big end and mains should see the bottom end done, I may reuse that old piston. People reckon I should press the cams off the shafts and swap them over but then the ramps are on the other sides of the lobes.
Gearbox is apart and I need a new 2nd M/S gear, I found a new 1st, I got given most of a clutch and a kick start leaver

Ball bearings will be fine as mains. I'd use C3 though. Where did you price the lipped rollers ? I bought a pair locally recently about $290 for the pair. Imperial sizing of course. They looked at their records and said I'd had them before. This time they are for a AJS Stormer twostroke. First time was for a 500cc Rudge special. Same bearing.
Both the big 4 engines have ball race bearings from factory, they can stay that way. When the waka taniwha had its 2nd blow up the maines needed to be replaced and they were over $600
