Popular Post radBMX Posted January 3 Popular Post Posted January 3 Three months ago I was having a chat with the owner of this Sunny/120y wagon and he mentioned he might sell it. I didn't really have the money for it but good cars at good prices seem so rare now that I did what any respectable person would do and sold my practical, reliable daily to buy it. So now this is my 1980 Datsun Sunny daily driver. 19 1 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 This is from day one of owning it. Janky clutch and super floppy shifter. Plus it was filthy and smelt weird. My plans for it are basically just to tidy it up, lower it and put some nice wheels on it. 9 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Good scrub inside and out made a huge difference. Threw away the yuck ripped seat covers, put in cheapo floor mats, replaced the shifter bushes and boots. Replaced both front window winder arms which were broken with some universal ones from Napa, but the splines in them keep stripping so need an alternative there. 9 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Spray painted the rusty steelies. Didn't like it. The four speed leaves a bit to be desired outside of town. 3 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Repainted the wheels black and put on a new set of dress rings. Also pulled off the chrome stripe which was peeling. I like the cleaner look without it. The indicators on the fenders were broken so they have been replaced. That and the small dents in both rear quarters lead me to believe that a previous over parked by feel. 5 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Wagon is good for wagon things. Totally a practical family car. 9 Quote
radBMX Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Put 2" blocks in the back and shorter springs in the front. According to the mount shop these are 30mm lowering springs for a B210 but are listed as being 25mm shorter in height than 30mm lowering springs for a B310. I didn't actually measure anything but it looks pretty even to me. Not quite captive which I still need to sort out. An inch or so lower would be ideal, but I don't know if it would be worth dealing with the low car problems on a daily. 5 Quote

radBMX Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago I have noticed water ingress through the rear quarter windows on both sides. I'll have to sort that out before winter. 1 1 Quote
