restoration kings mk2 Escort Estate

Recommended Posts

Hi, im new to oldschool.

I have been floating around looking at posts and now finally getting around to doing one myself.

Just got this old escort and it has certainly seen better days!

She has had one owner from new and has been sitting under the trees for over ten years.

So today she was pulled into the workshop to asses the damage from weathering and how much of a job it would be to restore her.

So we got her out with the tractor and lifted her up to have a look underneath.

It wasn't as bad as i was expecting..

There was a decent layer of mud and dirt on the underbody but it didnt look bad at all, some surface rust here and there but it is definitely salvageable. There are decent sized rust holes in the drivers side foot well as well as the passenger side and some in the spare wheel well in the boot.

I will try post some photos of those next.

This is the rust on the driverside. Should be able to cut it out and fix it up nicely.post-19190-0-95197400-1431157684_thumb.jpg

This of one of the wheel arches, might be a bit more difficult to make that look tidy.post-19190-0-45194800-1431157736_thumb.jpg

Here are some pictures of the interior, sadly the windows were left open for the 10+ years it was sitting under the trees.

So that probably doesn't help the rust holes in the footwells, but apart from that, the seats i am probably going to replace and it will be with some more comfortable seats from a newer vehicle.

The rear seats aren't too bad just need a clean so no problems there.
