Today, after many, many hours of sanding and spending a few hours polishing today, I finished my intake manifold: Will try put it on within the next week. More to come. I tidied up the injector wiring by running it under the manifold and gave the fuel rail a quick polish. Hard to stop once you start. I also installed this cool carbon airbox I got. Quietened down the diverter valve a lot. I'll polish the ends of it later on when I get a chance. Got some wheels off Cul8r (yes, I got all 4 before someone asks): Stripped the paint: Now I'm sanding: The plan is to polish the spoke faces and lips and paint the center bits around the bolt holes and the spokes sides black. Also put in my Wolfsburg steering wheel. And check my new radio, how's that for period correct? I've got my ticket to the twilight session at Hampton on Wednesday which should be good fun. However the car has had a bit of an idle issue for a while and in an attempt to diagnose it the other day I started unplugging and replugging things and now it's worse. Haha. Let's hope a throttle body calibration at least puts it back to how it was, as that was what I unplugged when it when worse. Bloody new school electrics, I do miss a throttle cable. I will be polishing the lips and painting the centers the same anthracite grey that the wheels on my E28 are. Also installed some more shiny bits in the engine bay. Raised the boost a bit too, goes noticeably harder now. M M Posted March 19, 2016 Author Share Posted March 19, 2016 I've been going to the last 3 Drag Wars with the mk2. After running consistent 15s and just not being able to get into 14s (even setting a 15.078), on Friday I managed to set several 14 second runs including a 14.590 with a little weight reduction. Some photos from the pervious events thanks to RL Photography: My favourite one: I will post photos of this Friday when they get uploaded. The car ran excellently with no running issues what so ever. Only issue I had was occasionally the electronic throttle pedal cutting out, but I think I solved that since it didn't happen this round. And with that, I think it's time to part ways with this car. I want to move on to something new and have big plans for my e28 and possibly another car so I will be tidying up some things on this car and then I will put it up for sale. It has been great and served me very well. Whoever buys this will be getting a very good car. Popular Post M M Posted June 22, 2016 Author Popular Post Share Posted June 22, 2016 Well, the car I was going to buy when I listed this is no longer for sale, and no one wanted my mk2 so I guess I'm stuck with it. So I figured I may as well do this right. Last week I managed to track down an Audi A3 1.8t 180hp tune which I flashed on my ECU. It's the same motor and ECU, just a different tune which is quite cool. The difference was amazingly significant. I was expecting an increase but bloody hell does it go now. To give a bit of a comparison, when I first put this motor in, I raced my friend with his 2L 16v mk2 from standstill. He got me on the take off because I couldn't get grip and I only started to catch up once I got grip in 3rd. Once I flashed this tune on, we raced again. This time, even though I had significant wheelspin still, we were even through first and second, then as soon as I got grip when I hit third I just flew past him like he was not even moving. I couldn't believe it. Yesterday I also fixed my low hanging muffler (which has fallen off multiple times), however I plan to remake the exhaust system later this year with a 2.5" system.
