Well I am in the process of selling the Datsun project...

I am selling because I brought this.

221669966_full-1.jpg

I got if off a guy called Cam (not sure if anyone knows him?) from Auckland an drove it back down to Wellington. It was a mission really haha.

The car has good points and bad points.

Good:

Looks really staunch

Loving the rims

Bodywork is mostly straight

Exhaust is excessively loud ( good cos it sounds cool)

Paint is surprisingly well done being matt black and all!

Sunroof!

Worked motor...

Fully adjustable suspension

Bad:

Flares need to be refitted and tidied up.

A bit of guard rub (this should be an easy fix)

Motor is down on power (I hope it is down on power due to a bad tune...)

Exhaust is excessively loud (bad cos its slow...)

Not certed for any mod's

Interior needs a bit of tlc, not much though.

The carb will stay open if I decide to floor it (happened on the auckland motorway  )

Spits oil out of breather

It seems like there is a lot of "bads" but whenever I drive it none of that matters, it puts a smile on my face and others! :D

Since this has wiped all the money I had and most of my weekly wage is going into other things all I can do is try to eliminate as much of the bad as pos :thumbright:

I picked it up with these wheels on it! haha.....I guess they will make good wheels and tires for wof!

One thing I have started doing is sorting the mirrors out. The way they were mounted gave me an orsome view of the sun! They could not be adjusted downwards at all, this was because they were mounted backwards!

I can see why he did it though, The mirrors dont look good at all when mounted the right way because they angle out. The Clubmans guard angles downward its not flat so when it was mounted properly the mirrors were not level.

I have tried my best to solve this problem, I have taken the base of the LH mirror and attached it to the mirror part of the RH body and vise-versa.

So now the mirrors angle in making the mirrors more level.

Take note of the mirrors in the pictures. Sorry about the recent ones, I did them tonight..

So for my hour of work on the car today I was trying to sort the rear fitment while I was taking off the flares.

The last owner must have raised it from the trademe pictures before I got it..

SAM_1337.jpg

Naturally I want it lower haha. Without camber adjustment on the rear and without the arches cut away the is as low as I dared to go....for now haha.

What I was going for

Well I have one thing sorted! I have my throttle sorted.

What used to happen: If I was to heavily accelerate, the car would not return to idle! It would stay around 4k - 5k haha this sucked on the Auckland motorway!

What was done: A new throttle cable mount was made. The pedal height was readjusted (it was sitting up to high and when fully depressed it would bend the mounts) the spring mount was changed and this has solved the problem!

This is a bad photo of the previous setup but you kinda get the idea

Right....FFS what have I done!

Today I took the sunroof off.. 3 reasons.

I didn't like it.

It was a manual slider and was vary easy to break in through it. ( even though I have a kill switch key I dont wanna take my chances.)

Even though it looked like it was installed well it also looked like it had been there for awhile. The glass wasn't sliding back well and could potentially pop out while driving.

I have a flush mounted tilt sun roof that I might get put in... but I dont really like sunroofs.

So I am thinking of patching it up with a nicely cut sheet of aluminum for a temp cover until I can afford to get it filled up properly.

Any who Pictures.

Without the glass and the front cowl on

Not a "real" update as such, just been collecting a lot of dust. I am however working on the bodywork uder the arches, to allow more low and more lock haha! I am hoping to get new arches and have them fitting before xmas!

Too low in the front and too high in the back? Or just to high in the back? lol

Whoa, Looong time since I was on here.
Things are starting to happen (finally) My main goal is to get it on the road!

Sooo I purchased new shocks, flares, exhaust and a few other things which add up to a sum of money but not worth mentioning.

Times have been tough, I have started a plumbing apprenticeship and taken a pay cut because of it.
But all is well I tinker here and there, buy what I can.
I decided against those flares and bought similar ones but I think they suit it bettter.
I had to add alot of camber (alot for a mini) to the rear and space out the flares a little to get it to work.
