So picked up this crown off Seedy Al he was coming down to Hamilton to pick up the crown Wagon so he put the sedan on the trailer and I met him down in Hamilton on the 10th of September.

So far I’ve just been trying to get it ready for WOF and reliable with spending as little money as I can,

What I done so far.

Got a bit sick of changing the fuel filters because the fuel tank had heaps of shit inside so cleaned that all out and ended up replacing some of the fuel lines.

New bushings in starter motor as there were worn out.

Fixed exhaust broken stud, new gasket and seal so no leak in exhaust anymore.

Got rid of the Dual curve ignition because I thought that was the reason for the timing was not advancing but I was wrong it ended up being the mechanical parts of the disruptor were stuck so gave them a sand and lube,

Also the choke was stuck on so fixed that

The secondary’s were not opening on the Carb, The accelerator cable was to long so half shorten that but could probably do with a bit more as the secondary’s are only opening about half way.

New bushing in the idler arm as that was one of the things it failed a WOF on.

One of my mates owns a suspension shop so New back springs looked like Jamex machined to fit keeping the same height as the cuts.

Fixed headlights just needed to bulbs which I got off my mates Impala so there all sweet now.

So I’m all ready for WOF now and have spent next to nothing doing all of this so pretty happy

Also I now have the paint for the Crown, 8 litres for free pretty happy with that one now just trying to decide whether it would look better gloss or flat the colour is going to be silver/Grey.

Just got a old head deck off a mate some 6x9's and some boxes so will be installing them as soon as i get some time.

So next on the list is to sort out electrics I have no idea at all about them but when I’m driving along it sounds like relays clicking going crazy but it’s not all the time either I have no idea what that could be.

Then strip the car find all the rust sandblast weld and paint the car

Also ive got to get the back bumper fixed/replaced and replace the broken grill.

Sorry about no Photo's i dont own a camera atm but it doesnt really look any different from when Al had it so you get the picture.

Stay tuned. :salute:

  • 2 weeks later...

Went back to get my WOF after I fixed everything Bang fail again,

No rubbers on my new springs

Left Rear Wheel bearing

Was still having problems starting it so took the solenoid apart and gave it a clean up Now she starts sweet.

Took the Carbie apart and realised that its fucked so I’m going to need to replace that as it wouldn’t be worth getting it fixed.

But got it running mint anyway using a truck load of gas aha,

So fixed everything and I was off to get my WOF again.

Got 1 metre before Bang Snapped rear right axle

So got lucky someone was selling both right and left Aftermarket axles for $50 because apparently the HQ diff is known for breaking axles so pretty stoked with the aftermarket ones so now just waiting for them to arrive then I’ll have to drill them to the Toyota stud pattern

Then off for a WOF again will have to be a new sheet this time so fingers crossed.

So they Axles that i got sent up from Christchurch were wrong and useless Because the declaration said HQ diff but it’s not infact a HQ I think it’s a Torana should have pulled it apart before buying parts. so waste of money there.

So moving on i took the diff apart realised they were coarse spline axles which apparently are very weak. so the one that broke got replaced with a fine spline had to re-drill from Holden stud pattern to Toyota, new spider gear in the diff gave the housing a good clean with petrol and magnets, also put a small magnet in there and back on the road again.

Now just got to get WOF and Rego and take some pictures so my thread isn’t so boring.
