camo_78
.....and here it is.so,27th of november it was in a skid comp... my battery was being a prick so the GC(cant remember his name ) driving this kept jump starting the cortina for me and yes,i put in a good word for oldschool.co.nz 1st run, couple of pix.i overheated the clutch attempting 3rd on stickiest part of pad got back to pits, gave it 10 mins to cool off,all good to go again.headed out for 2nd run, would slip in 2nd still so stayed in 1st until overflow bottle went everywhere and 2 days later it looked like this, although these pix were taken today 18/12/2011 took gearbox out, forgot YEARS ago i fitted a rust pitted flywheel which i guess contributed to the slipping clutch.have new flywheel so will be back together in the next few days. fitted a new left door as metal was ripped around hinges on old one (done before burnout comp) lowered arse more, has daihastsu hijet shocks now BUT they dont allow any droop so will need to find some slightly longer ones and have been buying new bits for it WRX seat for passengers courtesy of GC Be4ver if you look at burnout pictures theres a filter hanging out the bonnet, its a 5.5" K&N oval cleaner, originally for a IDA weber, but fitted to the cortina using a ramflo base plate,as its the exact same size and shape as the K&N filters and my favourite new purchase(well, not paid for yet as mate is a GC)....... 15x8 D windows fitted with 195/50 r15s unfortunately i can only run 2 D windows on the front as they would rub 24/7 on the rear without major guard mods.fortunately i only have 2 of them so will be running boat rims/modgies/stock/spitties on the rear until i either mod gaurds and buy another pair or go to a different style all together in 15s and raise it will update again once its all reassembled and on the ground wearing the D windows
camo_78
so the jan 14th comp has been and gone,i hear some of you attended.cortina didnt miss a beat, popped one tyre(was going for 2 but oh well).the beast is now parked up for a few weeks while i sort my other vehicular objects out and for those that are interested,i was pulling 7,800 rpm out of a pinto in 2nd gear ,knew there was reason the monster tach had a recall function
