cute wee gem
Picked this up from Spence a few weeks back. Gem would struggle to tow anything so upgrading to something a bit larger. Needs some rust work, paint job, wheels and tyres, fix wiring and electrics, fix heater, exhaust leak etc.. lots of other small things. I have got the power windows, some gauges in the dash, and stereo working properly, so far.
cute wee gem
Banged some wheels and tyres on, so I give the mrs her wheels back 15x7.5" with 195/45s but I really think I should have gone to a 205. Needs to be a bit lower in the front also. Always addressing the un-important shit first
cute wee gem
Been working on this for the last 2 months or so. Rust has been cut out and new steel welded in, passenger side A pillar and also the boot jamb needed a lot of work. All work has had the metal ready/POR15 treatment then primed. Guards have been off and minor rust work done there too. That's the slow tedious part done, now onto the panel work
cute wee gem
70% of the body work done, now in primer and guide coat ready for blocking back. Got some new panels to replace some that were a bit stuffed and a whole swag of other parts from a Cressida Big thanks to Mitch, D and Richy for getting those bits of trim down to me
cute wee gem
Doors off and jambs done (more rust) Engine bay will be done at a later date as I want it rolling for the xmas break. Also have some other, more exciting plans to do after the xmas break.
cute wee gem
Shell in primer ready for final block sand. Windscreen needs to come out at some point for further rust repair. New bootlid to replace the old rusty one, also ready for final block sand. Finally making some headway Having to work Saturdays till the end of the year doesn't help progress though
cute wee gem
I did a colour test today with a burgundy pearl over black base coat. I was originally going to keep it the original 2-tone or just solid white but 90% of these you see around are white, so I went for something a little different while trying not to go too blingy

cute wee gem
Bought some T3 RCAs to counter bump steer Also bought some cheap Cusco S13 Silvia coilovers. Chopped them up and welded them onto the original strut Engine bay sanded then primed - I'm going to weld the old top hat holes up and the new ones are slotted to suit both original and Cusco top hats Slow progress ftl
cute wee gem
Degreased and blasted engine and painted covers with wrinkle paint. I'll do the block when I get some normal paint.
cute wee gem
Had a fire in the engine bay when welding up the top hat holes. Luckily it did minimal damage but it sure got the heart pumping Painted the engine bay tonight after work.
cute wee gem
Engine back in. Re-did some wiring and tidied some other bits up.
cute wee gem
Well, it appears that Cressidas have longer front guards, bonnet and bumper mounts So I had to chop the mount off the good Cressida front bumper and weld it onto the Mark II bumper as the old one was completely rusted out. It's not exactly the same but it works. This also means the front valance from a Cressida is different, so I spent hours panel beating the original valance Didn't bother taking any photos as it is all a bit boring but I painted the struts, put new shocks in and installed them. cute wee gem
Front guards, bonnet, valance, fuel flap and little panels below the lights painted. Bit dusty but you get the idea
cute wee gem
Fixed the battered up exhaust flange by putting a v-band on it, I also cut up the exhaust and re-welded it so it tucks up more and generally fits a lot better. Gotta love a tig that doesn't blow up!! Can't say much for my welding though. Also been working on the bumpers but haven't bothered to take pics
cute wee gem
Dragged this thread back from page 6. Useless! Front lights for conversion Windscreen frame finally de-rusted (not smart around brand new paint), new screen in and everything is now painted, but would like to re-clear the whole thing, or get it cut/polished professionally (I fail) Altezza torsen LSD installed Still lots to do believe it or not Edit: someone give me some bonnet trim!!!
