The panel beaters coming in tomoro to give me a hand and finsh getting it straight and then next w/e my dads mate whos a car painter is going to prime my whole car in 2k primer and if all goes well the following w/e my car should be at avon city ford getting painted! heres a few pics. also found out i need to restud my car so my minilites can fit. can you do it yourself and how much does it cost?

update time: well what can i say. Dont underestimate the amount of time you can spend preping a car for paint.

today my dads mate who is a car painter came over and put two heavy coats of 2 pak primer on my escort. The paint showed up small imperfections especially on the bonnet. tomoro we are going to block the car pannel by panel and use knifing compound to take out any blemishs and next w/e we will put 2 more coats of primer on and it should be all go. at the moment im just trying to work out the cheapest option for buying window rubbers, any help would be awesome. also has anyone used knifing compound? photos up tomoro.

sorry no photos today i was too busy sanding. Any way got the car blocked and fixed up any imperfections. knifing compound = good! It fills in the smallest air bubbles in bog and small scratches. We'll put 2 more coats of 2 pak primer on saturday and then we'll put it on the trailer adn take it to chch. so i will update you all on the paintjob with photos in the next month.

well ive been home for a week and ive put my booster in with only a few little mods all my wiring and front dash is assembled. all i need to do now is the break lines/ handbreak and then put the windows back in and door locks then drop the engine in. im going to get it on the road and then save up so money and do the interior. looking at mounting some BMW Z3 font seats and recovering them in cream with blue seams and having custom cream door cards with blue seams and the original back seat but make it a bit more cumfy and some decent carpet.with a custom parcel tray and some basic sounds. also just added another car to my wee colection of small fords. i just bought a anglia and have my eyes on a mk2 cortina with a 2liter capri engine ohc. found them rusting away at the back of some farm. i now have 2 mk2 escorts one is stripped for parts the other one is stripped but has a decent shell, a mk1 2 door for parts for my car, a anglia good for parts only so im looking for a shell for the next project and of course my escort and then dads got his mk2 2door. mums not to impressed by the state of her back yard.:lol:

heres some pics anyway. update end of the week.

looking at that last photo, mk1's are difinetly the nicer shape, i love my car so much now. all the little things that have been pissing me of dont matter anymore its all worth when your in the drivers seat!

hey guys got her going finaly and even drove her round the block for the first time in over a year. felt great. cant keep my eyes of her now. took about a billion photos. last week i tried to get it going but it wouldnt fire so did the set timing again this w/e and still wouldnt fire. no spark. then swapped my coil leads and distributer cap with my old mans mk2 and she fired up. so this week i'll get a new coil and leads and next w/e i'll get a timing light , do the timing, fix the left brake light and fix the speedo. then should be good for a wof. pretty happy with the ride height considering i havn't lowered it at all. might reset the leaf springs and get the front springs compressed.

got loads more pics, couldnt stop taking photos.

something was wrong with the engine was going fine but would miss every 2nd revolution. i thought it was the timing, couldnt figure it out so i pulled it out took the sump of and timing cover reset the timing gears but didnt end up changing anything put it back together droped it back in and it wouldnt fire. i knew it had to be electrical. so i checked the sparks and they were weak as. changed the condensor and it was still weak its a brand new coil to. so i ended up putting a a wire straight from the coil to the battery and had a good spark at the points, but none at the plugs. took the new leads out put the old ones on and it fired up first go.
