  1. Yea mate i'm a draughtsman at downer. Do you work around there too?

with the tyres when i first got it i took it to firestone and they gave me the option of them so my speedo didnt go out, because it is already out by 10km and didnt really want it out by 20km at 100km. have always wanted them smaller since though.

Am going to lower it a little more this weekend, try get it to 100mm from 150mm and see how it looks then.

    Cheers

Bit bored so thought i would post this up...

This is my 1985 Toyota Cressida GX71, brought it just over 1 year ago, in a Completely standard state, with only 100,000ish k's on the clock. Is the snail of the x7's with only the sohc 2L straight 6.

A couple a weeks after buying it, I took it to the boys at SSS in Palmerston north and had a pioneer headunit put in and some infinity speakers fitted.

"shortened" the springs one night, keeping them captive of course.

Brought some sportmaxx rims 15x8 with 0 offset (i know they are not jdm and arnt auctually 3 piece, blah blah blah, but they are cheap, are the size i want and i like how they look, plus i can give them a beating and if i break one can pay less than $200 for a new one.)

Added a boso/drift inspired exhaust tip.

And driven all over the north island since.

    Cheers...

started sanding down the doors and hood with a grinder and linishing discs.

can count up to 7 different colored layers of paint and primer, applied over the last 60 years.

Redrilled the holes for the rear air bags. As the new ones are allot smaller. Temporarily plumbed them up and used the shop compressor to test them. All the rear geometry looks to work fine and has over 12 inches travel. Very stoked and motervated to plumb it in properly now and get it road legal.

    Video soon?

  5. Hey spanners. Looking mint. When you say you have spent loads to get the beams in there. What sort of money are you talking about at an estimate ? What where the most expensive unexpected bits etc ? Kind of second guessing whether I should bother with my ke70. Keep up the great work though!

  6. mm, was thinking 15x8 with zero offset, as have them on my cressida, so would be alright to test fit, to have something to work with till i buy some more, either Watanabe or a widened steel rim.

the way i see it is, if i get the mx5 subframe in there and it is definitely to wide to work with, then i will shorten it up, and that is no problem to do so.

  7. cheers Simon. good news on the drifting :D should also be fun on windy back roads (grip not drift)

this is the c's garage corolla ke70.jpg

with the lengthened front LCA (about an inch from memory)

and this is the kind of stance im going for. and am not worried how far the bottom of the rim sticks out as long as the tire tread is under the guard. should be about the same in the back with the shorter upper control arm and wheels tucked right up.

  8. found out the other draughtman at work has a mx5 subframe, diff etc, sitting in his garage, that he was going to use in his lotus 7 replica. got me the measurements and its 1500 from hub face to hub face.

So if the dx live axel is 1410ish then its only 45mm per side wider.
i am hoping that by time i get some camber on it the top should be a little less than 45mm to wide.

    mmm...
