  1. Today, i had a go of getting the altezza clutch master cylinder out of the way of the intake so i can try fit a filter of some kind.

Started by removing the remote reservoir.

    10506885634_78930a5500_z.jpg

Then maching up a hose tail to match the shape of the reservoir. It pushes in, no threads.

    10506861665_1b6a2d5049_z.jpg

Then made a plate to sit over the top and apply pressure to the hose tail.

Managed to get it back in and bolted up.
Will look at mounting the remote reservoir tomorrow.

  2. Another Boring Picture less update.

First up, a huge thanks to eke_zetec_RWD.

He came around today and tested the compression for me. All 4 cylinders are pretty similar.

And all with in, what the internet says, to be good compression for an altezza 3sge, of 10-13bar.

We eventually came to the conclusion that the two rear throttle body's where not quite as open as the front two.

Once we got the intake flow equal on all 4 cylinders, it idled much better.

It had to be something simple haha.

Next up is to change the clutch reservoir tomorrow, so i can buy and fit a PiperCross filter over top of the trumpets.

  3. Got the bonnet back on today, Small Spacers on the hinges for a little extra clearance.

Fire Extinguisher all mounted in the back.

have the horn, window squirters and most of the lights working.

Need to take it to the electricians to see if he can figure out why the radiator fans are not working.

And to wire up the tachometer for me.

    Then wheel alignment,

    Then Cert?!?!

  6. hey man im in palmy was wondering if i cld get ur number to discuss ur project on a few particulars as im doin the same thing with a 2dr wagon but end result is to hav it as a track car. getting same motor so first up engine mounts? how did u do urs? txt me on my cell 0275906002 or call anytime wld b a big help az this is my first ground up build cheers

Dont post in the build thread man

    look for the discussion thread

Engine mounts were pretty straight forward.

Was just a piece of box section cut in half and welded to the cross member. Is fairly easy to see how to make them once you get the engine sitting in the engine bay. Hopefully this will be at November/Decembers? monthly meet if you want to come along for a look. 0275989439 if you have more questions.

    Cheers

I AutoCad up a sump tray bash guard, had it Water Jet cut out, at Advanced Sheet Metals here in Palmerston North.

Most of it was a bit of a guestimate.

Bolted It up and it fits mint.

It is cut from 4mm High tensile Aluminium.

Super light and very rigid. Sits about 20mm lower than the sills/spoiler. So is the lowest part of the car.

If you think this may also work for your ke70, feel free to download the files below,

    Sump bash tray.zip (183 KB)

Also Grabbed One of dads freshly cast gauge clusters. Its a very nice fit in place of the factory ashtray.

Will end up painting it satin black i think.

  8. Is your exhaust going under the diff? How much clearance is there?

Heaps of room under the diff. Although I do want to raise it up to make it a bit easier to dyno. Which will leave less room for the exhaust to go under the diff.

The area i have the least space is around the coby. Its hanging a bit low, although im pretty sure it isn't as low as the front spoiler and sump guard I am getting water jet out of aluminium.

  9. Yes, these are the rules;

If it has a windscreen it must have windscreen wipers.

A vehicle 1992 onwards must have wipers and washers/sprayers, pre '92 just wipers.

A vehicle 1960 onwards must have powered windscreen wipers, pre '60 I guess they were manual?  I'm too young to know this.

    Source: http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof/general/vision/windscreen-wipe-wash

Above link, is the current version of the Vehicle Inspection Manual and states what you will fail on, not what is acceptable.

Pre 1960 had Vacuum wipers. That stop working when you meet a decent hill or overtaking.

  10. So you've used the factory Altezza front half and shortened the rear?

Hah, I was just down last weekend. I'll rip the tune off it next time I'm out at the workshop and can email it to you.

The front half was shortened as well. cant remember why. but has worked out mint.

sweet. will have to should you some burgerfuel, if you make it to another monthly meet

  11. Ok, I started on a u bend yesterday to come out of the side and up over the top.

On two piece Drive Shaft, yea we mounted the bearing in the middle with a little bracket on each side.

Altezza two piece shafts are <$100 from ToyoTas Nissin Parts world.

When are you down next? so i can grab that basemap?

Getting close to needing a tune :D
