What do you guys reckon is the best fix for the transmission mount?
I read somewhere an auto mount backwards would do the job or just fabricate a new one.
Holes are about 45~50mm out.
Next photo slightly out of focus - sorry

This has got to be the slowest build in history!..
Car's back from panelbeater de-rusted and new floor.
Rollbar and seat mounts sorted
Dummy fitting of Type E gearbox and single piece driveshaft
Front suspension nearly sorted. Just missing decent sway bar, green tie rod ends and quick rack
Off to the painters next $$$$

Nice list of bits there mate.
How do you find Burtons to deal with?
I understand we don't pay their VAT, just GST when landed - is that correct?
Either way, some of those prices are still pretty good even with the exchange rate (especially that alloy radiator)
You use PAYPAL or credit card?
Thanks
Mike

Cheers.

Looking for better road handling, at the moment, the wheels are too wide so the guards rub when i have friends in the car.
Depends on what you want to do with the car and how many $$ you want to spend.
Still sorting mine out but it isn't cheap.
Will add a twin cam roll bar with double width kit to sort out the front.
Probably a 2 link with reset springs and adjustable shocks in the rear.

Turns out that the short extension housing is unique to Aussie escorts - UK readers on another forum had never seen one like this before!..
Ended up buying gearbox (not the one shown but a different listing on TM) c/w bell housing, fork, bearing and driveshaft. Unfortunately, bell housing had been modified and will require some welding to recover - maybe replace with alloy one
Just got to sort out a gearbox mount now. Was told an auto gearbox mount will fit straight in. Can anybody confirm this?
Thanks
Will be pretty much no difference between that and a UK RS2k box.Use a Hillman Avenger or Hunter clutch plate with your stock pressure plate and flywheel.

How'd you get on shortening that type 9 tail housing?. Thanks
-
Looking at buying this gearbox. Advertised as an RS2000 box but I think it's just a gearbox out of an Aussie 2 Litre escort. Anybody got any ideas whay clutch I'm going to need to mate this up to my pushrod? Spline count is: In 23 Out 25. Distance from bell housing to gear stick is the same as existing type 2 box so should fit straight in with a bit of persuasion around the tunnel
Thanks

Off to the panelbeaters for:
- New slam panel and front panel
- Drivers floor
- AVO strut plates
- Replace last owners bodgy repairs

Cheers man. I'm going with the T9 at the moment aye, have a new sierra clutch and have modified the escort flywheel to suit. Will also be modifying the tail-shaft on the gearbox to bring the leaver forward so I can keep the original shifter hole. Here's a couple of pics:
Really keen to hear how you get one modifying the extension housing/tail shaft - keep us posted.
You staying with a cable clutch or going hydraulic? Is that a Sierra bell housing and what fork are you going to use?
Thanks
-
Escort is looking good mate!..
I see from your pic, you're not using a standard escort gearbox with integral bellhousing. What gearbox you going to run? T9 5 speed or rocket?

Planning to go classic racing in 2013.
Period mods only so probable spec will be:
-1760cc Pushrod with Rocket Box
-Adjustable front suspension with capri vented disks
-TranX LSD
-2-Link Lit and lowered rear with standard drums
-Full interior plus cage
-Standard sport exterior
But the plans may change - YB after winning lotto!..
