Thanks. I used to live and breathe MK1 Escorts. I had a 1974 Mk1 Sport in "wild violet" years ago. Rebuilt it from top to bottom. I still remember the sound of those Weber DCOE's. Would love to have that car back! Andy.

Hello. Sorry to refloat old posts. Mk1 1300 Sports were available new in NZ. They were english assembled and imported. The earlier Sports had a tacho fixed to the dash while the later (1974 new NZ) had the GT/RS style dash. The Sport also used the RS front guards and twin bumpers but not they did not have the RS type 49 shell with strengthened strut towers etc. Sports were most easily noticed by their "Sport" decals on the front guards and the rear of the car around the tail lights etc was painted Black. The NZ GT's were almost all 4 door cars and most were a dark Orange type colour. I have only ever seen one genuine 2 door GT in NZ. It was BRG with a White roof, a GT dash and high back front seats. It was a 1300 with 32 DGV and headers. Andy.
