Getting a 3k replacement for my 4k, 3ks a bit smokey aparently, unsure what it is but will a 4k head go straight on a 3k? Getting 3k cheap, just wanting my car going again as its my daily And also whats the differences between carbs? just jets? Cheers

Yea, maybe 1500-2000 idk? hard to tell with no meter. spins in any rpm so hard to tell really. Idles low as so not sure

I got a kp60 starlet with a 3.8v6 commodore motor in it. Its nuts, just does one thing, at low rpm it makes a sucking noise and lacks of power (hardly any at all) Have no rev meter but i think at like 1k rpm it goes back to normal (nuts) Not a problem, just would like to know what it is, i thought maybe sucking too much air at low rpm because when you plant it it runs mint and would be right mixture when planted. I don't know.. any help appreciated Cheers

Been under cover, looks algood, Sussed a replacement 5k but would rather find the problem with this to keep as spare. Sounds like something loose in there or something, if i keep at steady rpm theres a rattle every now and then but if accelerating it overpowers every other sound, can still hear after trying to drown out with music (figured if i cant hear it its not happening.lol) sounds normal at idle (with choke as wont idle untill hot (used to idle str8 away)

Is there a way i can check if thats what it is? would that be a reason for it not idling and having next to no power?

Yea, my mate told me it could be that, so just chuck a new gasket on it you reckin? Might as well give it a go, easier than transplant

Got a 4k dx wagon as a daily and a bit of fun every now and then and its all of a sudden gained some issues It started making a noise which i assumed was tappets which happened after a skid attempt from my sober driver one night. It wasnt too bad but then all of a sudden it started a loud tappet like noise when reving and wont idle properly (sounds like a rota) its like its down a cylinder or something. Anyone find this familiar? or know what it could be? I dont know alot about them and dont want to rip it all apart unless i know what im looking for. Could just be easier to get new motor... Cheers

It has a keypad which looks like its for an immobilizer but we tried all the buttons and it doesnt seem to do anything, hazards flash but nothing happens, will check solenoid wire, must be something like that. Otherwise i was thinking of just wiring it to a button temporarily untill we find the actual problem.

Got a mate who just brought a l300 with an evo3 motor. Got a good deal but got a few problems that need fixing. When we got it the guy left it idling when we looked over it etc. Then when we went to leave we went to start it but they had left. Turned key and nothing, fuel pump starts and clock etc turns on, turn key to actually start it and nothing, clock turns off untill i let it go but no starter motor, not even clicking noise. Thinking just wiring but is a bit odd... Also isnt tuned right, got link g4, goes good, boosts well but if you gas it too much it misses and bogs, but if you let the revs climb slowly itll rev out normally and run well, just cant rev fast. He knew about it not running properly, just not about it starting. Any help would be good. Thanks

Just got a starlet with a commy v6 planted in it. Firewall has been done very well, perfect welds etc. Do you have to have an engineers certificate for welds? Unsure who it was done buy. Also does anyone know any good (preferably cheap) places for cert around wellington, manawatu area?

Does anyone know if seatbelts from a 85ish dx wagon would be the same as a 84 kp60 starlet?

My van temp gauge is buggered and have an aftermarket one but no idea how to wire it. It has a black, yellow, orange and purple wire. Its a Racetech gauge Anyone know what the wires could be? Just want to put in for looks too even if it doesnt work properly(bit of a pisstake van ) Cheers

Looking at getting a car thats pinkied for noise and want to get it off asap. He said theres a hole in muffler but if heas just using that as an excuse, what can I do to make it quieter? Some sort of baffle? Have heard something about that steelo stuff for dishes? Cheers

Yea maybe just mash them together. make standard seat bigger, put back rests off couch on it and on the bottom. Has some cushions off couch on but then theres no room to sit and it too high
