Is it ok to pie cut the uppers to correct the ball joint angle?

or is a custom A arm an option?

Yes. I've gone through cert process on my 90's b2000 with the pie cut done. Keep your required camber in mind when you do it. You can either pie cut a section out to make the arm shorter for more camber or you can cut/spread then infill to reduce camber. Tig welded by ticketed welder (not that i've ever been asked to provide evidence of who welded it) and crack testing required.

  2. i'll give my opinion if it's not too late. I agree with keeping the turbo engine. Like you said, they're getting rare now. I would stick with the rb20det. If your after more power then bolt on an rb25 turbo And a nistune. Perfect for a street car and cheap to do. May even improve the fuel economy with a decent tune. In 10 years it will be worth more, not less.

  3. Good enough for me, Cheers tgb. Sucks that there doesn't seem to be any proper ones around anymore like there are for the gen 2 though. I might try drawing one myself to share with the world

  4. I have a courier with a standard SR20DET T25 engine/turbo. At 100kmh it sits well into the vacuum so I doubt its a weight or aerodynamics issue your having. Even if your ratio had your rpm at around 4k (being generous) at that speed, you should still be seeing some vacuum. I'm running BB T28 on both my SR20det silvia and 1ggte Cressida and both of those are also running vacuum at cruising speeds (around 3200ish rpm). Sorry I can't actually tell you what might be causing yours to run pressure. Dud gauge maybe?

  5. Not much happening sadly due to still not having a shed built but I have made new rims. Widened steel rims with flanges welded in and centres from some 2 piece rims I have.

15x10 -20, I built them with the intention of redrilling them to 5 stud to share with my s13 but the offset still worked out pretty good for the crusty.

Currently has 195 50s all round but really needs 45 on the front and 55 at the back and then lowered another inch at the rear.

Also the wifey went to visit her parents old farm and discovered this gem in the neighbours paddock

Its a manual SX70 cresta with 147ks and it used to belong to her mum. The reason it was parked in the neighbours paddock? A cracked windscreen! FML.

It's way too far gone to save, especially being super base model even though its a cresta.

Anyway we had to take it home regardless (note other cool wrecks)

Plus sides are W55, Fender mirrors (unsure about condition till gaurds come off to check anchors), double headlight front end, and, for me anyway, a live axle e-series diff which means 2 extra axles incase I pop another one and more importantly a open diff head so I can finally get the crusty a wof!

At this stage the cresta will probably be parted out so if your interested in anything pm me. The gearbox is being put aside for my starlet but the 1S bellhousing and other manual parts are up for grabs aswell as everything else. Obviously anything that's a steel panel comes with free rust

  6. I've never been happy with the front mount. The piping was too big and was jammed up against the battery and lights aswell as the intercooler being jammed against the bumper and having next to no airflow. Decided best option was one of these-

Water-air cooler. I spent today dummying it up and ended up cutting and turning the cold pipe which will get welded monday-ish

Not too keen on how bling the engine bay is looking. Getting the right joiners in flat black is a bit difficult so will run red/blue silicone which i get cheap through work. May try painting silicone with appropriate paint (input please?)

Also tried to make the paint look weathered by sanding it. Pretty happy tbh.

Next up is diff swap... :D

  7. I kept taking out the cooler every time i drove it. It will be making a return in the form of a radiator for an air to water intercooler. Current front mount is ugly and does fuck all for cooling, its also why the right headlight is all crooked and theres no valance
