Well.... Over a year later, finally this things warranted and registerd and running mint. had a few issues but now its sweet! Apparently the wheel alignment people couldnt get the camber to 0 so i decided to make some of these at my work, which i wasnt fussed about because it meant even more post cert camber!!

Where is the best place if there even is one, to get leaf springs reset, in the Blenheim Marlborough Nelson kind of area. Cheers

thats a fair chunk of money for a skid car. i think im gona build my own suspension ae.. well give it a go any way haha. i know it wont be easy, but building somthing that doesnt have to be to road spec eases the mind a little.

Mm yea. i know the manual conversion will be pricy thats one of the put offs.. but i just really want a v8 haha... 1j would defintly be second option. Hmm well getting toyota parts from hilux's is no problem as my grandad is a van and ute wrecker. but other parts will be expensive i know. Im looking to try do alot of shit myself too. Im new to it but I'm a machinist in the airforce so i have access to plenty of and tooling, and machining knowledge.

Iv just picked up a mx83 cressida with the intentions of putting a v8 in it for a track/drift car. Was always thinking 1uz, but now i have the opportunity to get a 3uz, possibly. Not alot about them on the web, in terms of conversions. What do you think about them??

ohk. i went in there but they didnt really help. repco i mean. my escort is the late one a 1975 with the mk2 chassis? so would i get the mk2 ones?

Does anyone know where you can get mk1 escort track control arm ball joints from? Internet looks like you have to get a whole new arm... /: and theres none of them around..

Things just seem to be going downhill. when i first pulled the tail housing off the bottom most shaft came out with it, the one with the end as a half circle, then then wen i was trying to put the housing back together that shaft came out out the bit it sits in in the housing, not thinking anything of it, now i see that it was meant to stay in the gearbox the whole time. when i was putting the housing on it sounding like what it was hitting on could move, like a spring or something. so then i looked down the hole where that shaft goes into, and right at the end it looks like there is a roller bearing there that has completely fallen apart, what do i do!!!???

i dont get what you mean about the gearstick? mines out? gearstick can not be in at all? fuuuuuuck hahaha

the gearbox is still in the car, iv just removed the tail housing so the gearstick is not there. but yea no manual here.... im geting frustrated with it haha. it slides on mint then just before the end it just hits somthing!?

i got it all sussed now. it is meant to be an interference fit, pressed on, i got some hearty locktite that fills and .008" gap and high strength and it stuck, for good haha. i bought a cable for mk1 to type 9, so yea its just the same as normal mk1 but just few inches longer. buuuuut i now cant put the tail housing back on. its getting stuck on somthing about an inch from being fully on. ?? any one had this?

Nothing, from what i can guess it needs to be pressed on? and the one in there is worn.

I have taken the tail part of the box off and the worm gear was just sitting there, nothing holing in place it sits on the rib thing but i dont see any way for it to be held.

hmm. and you did this with the gearbox still on the car...? no?

I finally got round to puting in a speedo cable into my escort, and it didnt work took out each end trying to source the problem, then decided to pull that plug out where the speedo plug goes, wasting all the oil. and the gear is there buuuuuut the worm gear from on the gearbox isn't. how do i fix this?!

is it ok to run no breather at all. will it not build up any pressure?

mm yeaa not everyone has those big ones with the hose.. maybe i need to. but the thing is my front of the engine sits high and that big cap hits the bonnet. what rings?

hmmm. well i took the cap off while running, and its just splattering quite normally, the cap doesnt have a breather hose, just two holes under the top of the cap, it seems to just catch too much up tin the top of the cap then just drip out, it started to bit it a bit less after a while. its a pinto. cap is off a cross flow, the little thin top ones.

After my engines been running for like 30 seconds or so oil starts to come out of the breather holes in the cap? cant figure out what it is? not just a few drips either it just runs out.

Shit its been ages. Well shes just about done. havnt done anything in ages as i havnt been home for a while, but dads been sorting a few little things, but its driveable!! driven a round in circles for a bout 5 minutes hahah. its looking reeeeally nice now though. loving it. love it.
