Pull out sump plug? Plug is quite large though, about 50mm across.
Have tested by running up and down a hill, with the clutch in trying out all the gears and kickstarter, couldn't get it to jam up. Must mean it's the engine, looks like it's coming out again to look at the rings and cam chain. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhh.

Yeah it's broken.
Gudgeon pin circlips are just like this

Naw, the gudgeon pins on this thing are tiny, the circlips for them don't have the hooked end on them.
I'm thinking probably this guy

which is #50 from here

All good, looks like I am sorted anyway

Not looking good for the motorbike. Who wants to give me a ride home to Henderson?
-
So jelly. I almost had one of these as my first car. Looks swish.
-
Sorry Seedy, that might be me unsure of my definitions.
It got new rings, cam bearings, and valves were cleaned up.
-
Yup. Will turn over fine with or without plugs, for ages or ages by hand. Just when running or kickstarting (occasionally) it jams.
Is definately in neutral, I can spin the wheel freely, and it doesn't seem to be the kickstarter causing problems. It was a
top endvalves/cam/piston rings rebuild only, I didn't touch the crankcase (lets just hope I haven't left a spanner inside!)- 1

Trying to find the issue with my just-rebuilt CB200 motor. I can turn it over using the altenator and kickstarter for tens of times, but then when running for a second or two it will randomly jam. I've looked down the bores when it does, and it jams at varying points in the cycle, so I'm pretty sure it's not the valves hitting pistons. I can un-jam it by turning the altenator/crank backwards for a bit, then it will turn over fine until I try run it again. Feels like very solid mechanical jam, not just a dry bores jam.
Given the ability to back it off and then keep it turning, I'm thinking something wrong with the cam chain? Tension is set correctly

Will be there, going motorbike or not, for my last meet.

More questions....
FA-50
Gearbox oil?
Says like 10w30 I think....
Is that like normal car enigine oil? Or?
Thanks
Excuse my unfamilarity with FA-50s, but is the clutch wetted by the gearbox oil? If so you'll want motorbike oil that doesn't contain anti-friction stuff

Yeah sounds like vac leak symptoms to me. Probably also worth checking your carb floats aren't getting stuck and making it run lean.
-
Spark good? Got the manual? I've always just tuned off the tuning syncing instructions there and it's worked pretty good.
-
Should be able to make it.
-
I have one. Not fancy screw type, but has worked in the past. Presume you've checked all the other usual suspects?
I'm way out west though, but could bring it into the city.

I have a .png of a schematic of something I'm making. There is no scale on the part. I want to be able to give it a reference scale, and then draw lines and have it show the length of the lines in mm. Any easy way to do this?
-
10dB is half the subjective volume, so I think he did quite well out of that. Measuring actual frequency content of the drone (rather than the engine frequency) would have been more useful I would have though.
-
Have you got just the basic package? Or all the extra modelling stuff?
For any serious FEA I would look at ANSYS instead, and just import the model from SW. It does fluid/solid interactions quite well. Although I hope you have a grunty computer to run it on.

I may have speedo cable lying around, although it'll be for a CB175. Interested?
-
I know they aren't expensive, but I'm only likely to need these once and too cheap to buy them.
Cylinder is 55mm.
Can pay in beers or rusty motorbike parts.

This might be my first one since february? Better get onto finishing the motorbike then.

Orly? I've tried dealers in Auckland with no luck before. That piston is a Lifan one apparently. Might have the same dimensions, but cbf working out compression ratios and valve clearances.

Fixed the gearbox issue only to discover big end failure on one side. As a pressed crank it's better to replace them entirely. About $50-100 out of the USA, but I don't have the time anymore.
Offers? (reg on hold, old plates, everything else works fine, new cam bearings, rings, piston rings)
