Thanks heaps for the replies, I think ill go with Valients ideas and start with a pinto and toyota gearbox, play around with the suspension. Not too hard by the sounds of it and looks like a straight forward learning curve Is it worth the hassle converting the rear drums to disk?

No budget at the moment but will look at options and work around them. So the CA is a good option? Pros and cons? My skill sets pretty low to be honest but im willing to learn

Okay so what ratio will i need to look at? 3.7 or 4.1ish? Zetec and duratec parts availability compared to CA or 4age?

Hey guys just contemplating things to do with the escort for when i get outta school Just a few questions first. Okay so from what ive searched 6cyl Cortina diffs can take falcon lsd heads? Wanting something close to my escort ratio (3.54) with lsd. I will be running flares as i like the look of them and love wide wheels Also a falcon diff is an option as there is an XF falcon diff up at the grand parents with disks will need shortening but has lsd and 3.45 ratio i think? Any other options keeping in mind the engine choices of mine? Would like i have a coilover setup! Pros and cons? Also engine wise, Im thinking CA18DET, 4AGZE, or Pinto, then again dads got a fully worked cortina GT race spec kent but thats been sitting in that crashed cortina in a field up north for years so unknown condition. Any suggestions and help appreciated Got big plans for the Escort!

For me to rebuild my kent 1600 i may as well get a turbo zetec(Keeping with Ford ) or the 4age (dads not to into the 4age and crossbreeding) so are there any other ford engines with reasonable economy and power and easy modification to a mk2?

What about a turbo'd zetec?

How much work is needed to put 4age into an escort? Has anyone done it? Just contemplating engine upgrades needs good tunability and economy suggestions welcome Thanks

Hey guys just wanting to know what gearboxes(5speed) are able/adaptable to suit my first car escort mk2 ghia. Ive seen a celica gbox and know of the sierra type9 any others? Original 4speed revs hard at 3500 at 100 wanting to change due to price of damn petrol any suggestions and help would be greatly appriciated
