the difference is, the $4000 jap import will probably be worth $2000 to replace when it comes time to payout in the event of a write off, or even if it has to be repaired, it will generally be dirt cheap. Though one could argue how could a Morris 1300 possibly be worth $4000?
When it looks like its been driven of the factory floor and into someones garage for 40 years.

i've sent off for a quote from classiccover so i'll let you know how it goes.

yep, punished for buying a decent car.....

yep called them again today and they won't insure a classic daily driver. 5000km max
Whats the difference between insuring a $4000 Morris 1300 and a $4000 Jap Import?

Maybe swann has changed recently?

Never had a problem with Vero for the classic cars, most important thing for me is that in the case of an incident they're not just gonna write the old car off as uneconomic to repair. Also use Lumley for my 80's cars until they get older and they have been awesome. (but don't use Westpac for quotes)
Also the other thing I like about Swann is they have a total loss policy so if they do right it off then you can buy the wreak off them for what they see the value of it to be. so if you had a $30,000 car and you totalled it. They would say something like the wreak is worth $2,000 and give you $28,000 plus the wreaked car. Then you can use it or parts or restore or whatever you like.
I see this being really good for my cars becuase if I wrote off my Avenger I would want to use the hotted up engine in another Avenger and my Charger I would try to rebuild no matter how bad it was.
needs to be garagedDidn't see that. Perhaps they will let me slide with a well off-street carport (behind another house) and being parked in at all times.
Swann you don't need to have it garaged. My Charger is garaged in a locked alarmed garage and the car itself is alarmed but my Avenger is in a carport, The Avenger is alarmed also but even before I installed the alarm they were okay with me parking it in the carport. and the unlimited miles is good.
Swann told me that there is limited k's. We are trying to insure a '72 Morris 1300 as a daily driver.
So far all we have been able to get is plain 3rd party. not even tp fire and theft. Advice??

I've got a '88 2 litre petrol and it is the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Except for the electric windows. Plenty of guts and not too heavy on gas. Chur

I can put you in touch with a guy in the Tuakau Area who wants to get rid of one for free. My wife says I can have it so i'm sharing the love...

Maybe I should call them again and tell them I've talked to heaps of people who are insured for daily drivers under them. Maybe its cos it is a '72? too old? Maybe they have a grudge against land crabs.....
