You guys have way cooler stories. I just get called faggot or "bro I need a haircut" a lot. I forgot how much everyone assumes you're a hairdresser when driving an MX5.
When I had my pulsar with some big cams in it a lot of people were adamant it had a misfire and that I needed to replace my leads and/or spark plugs.
With my escort I just had guys in their mid to late 30s telling me of the shit they used to get up to in high school in escorts (everyone knew at least one person who owned an escort as their first car in high school).
I'm James and that's my story.

10speed and punkoutnz, still need an indication of whether you're touring sheds, showing and touring or just showing.
I keep skipping this thread! Soz brah, keen as for touring sheds!

Did anyone get any pics of the sick roadster? Or my one parked next to it?

I woke up at like, 8.30am to the sound of rain on the roof and decided then and there that bed was far more welcoming than rain and coffee, haha.

Sounds like a super lush idea. Start with breakfast and finish with dinner and some beers. Perhaps can be extended from garage specific to just 'lush oldschool shit' so those with sweet vintage bikes and stuff can feel included.
Summer sounds like a decent time to sort it too.

I'd be looking at your glowplugs or possibly your glow plug ignitor.

Looking good man!

I would pick up a full set of suspension bushes, decent brake pads and a usable block for the new engine. First thing Monday morning I'd drop the block to the machinists to get bored out for the pistons and the crank machined and polished and I'd order all the bearings and gaskets that I'll need to put it together.
Monday lunch time I'd start pulling all the suspension apart and begin replacing the bushes and tidying up bits and pieces, I'd also pull out the old motor if I had time, but that'd probably happen Tuesday morning.
Tuesday I'd pull the motor out if I hadn't already and scuff back parts of the engine bay ready to slap some paint on it to match the rest of the car and lay the colour coat on Tuesday afternoon/evening.
Wednesday morning I'd swing past the machinists and pick up my freshly ground and polished crank, bearings and gaskets, etc. Head back to the shop and lay the clear coat on the engine bay, then put the block up on the engine stand and start assembling my new engine.
By Wednesday afternoon I'd have most of the bottom end assembled so some beers may be in order.
Thursday morning would be assembling the rest of the engine, bolting the head and sump in place and bolting on the carbs, distriubutor, flywheel and clutch and gearbox all bolted in place. Aim would be to have the engine ready to bolt in first thing Friday morning.
Friday I'd turn up nice and early, get the engine on the crane and drop it into the engine bay, fill up all oils and coolants, prime up for oil pressure and then fire it into life for the first time.
Friday night would be a few beers to celebrate a successful weekend and the weekend I'd spend driving around running in my new engine.

Well that's much preferable to a broken gudgeon pin! Can't quite see how that'd be causing your locking up issue but here's hoping.
-
That looks like it may be a gudgeon pin circlip bro.

yeah no shitty strippers this time, that was shit haha
Make them wipe before the show this time.

Yeah sounds like rings jamming to me. You either set the end gap too tight or possibly put them in the wrong way around (if there's different thicknesses of rings or something). How much clearance around the piston did you have? If it was too loose the rings could be twisting, though I've not had that before.

You obviously have never ridden it Hemi...Its top speed is about walking pace.
It's about torque, not power!

I've been told to attend this.....
Too bloody right!

I'd prefer Taupo because closer but keen to make it either way. Been slack the last two years so should really show my face and make sure I bring a rotary hoe and a phteven with me.

Closest measurement I can get on the sides is 41mm, bloody hard to get vernier calipers in there and mine are metric, haha.

If you wanna part with that bottom end let me know. You should have this running easily in time for next nats bro!

Just watched that vid, I never knew just how much work you had put into that thing guys! Will now have to spend an hour or two reading your build thread to see just how you went about it. They really did that car justice though, loved the way they pieced your story together.

Tomtom VS Navman VS Garmin GPS Navigation Devices
in Tech Talk
Posted
I also found with my Tomtom that the maps are so freaken out of date, even the latest maps are missing heaps of roads. It doesn't even have my mate's road in gissi and their house was built about 5 years ago. Not to mention mine only had the 3 month map update garauntee and no updates till just after that magic 3 months lapsed and then they wanted me to pay over $100 to update it. So my advice is get a unit that has free lifetime map updates (most Navmans do now) and use google maps to find all the cool shit, grab the address, and just punch that into your gps if you want to use one. I only use it on long trips now otherwise it's google maps erryday.
