Pretty sure your driving talent has improved just as much as the car has. Got some pretty impressive skills now man!

I used pretty much that method on both the escort and the wheels I just painted and they both turned out pretty damn lush. I've never wet sanded before painting, especially over primer.

Missing this one, and probably the next. See you all in November probably
We'll have a toast to you buddy. Go get a burger at Rotorua Burgerfuel and we'll have a group conference via the interwebs so you feel included

I somehow missed the "engine parts" subclause there and assumed you were talking about tyres! My bad.
I've only ever gotten in with some industrial degreaser and a toothbrush and that's worked for me.

Have you tried dragons breath? I haven't personally but I know a few people who have that say it's the freaken tits.

From talking to the guy who sometimes turns up with free food in the carpark, they gear up for the 3rd Wednesday of the month unless told otherwise.
I guess in that case it wouldn't hurt to give them a quick email or something to let them know what the story is, I haven't spoken to them so was just asserting what I thought to be the case.
-
They know it's the second to last Wednesday of each month though? Only reason they were caught out last month is it was held on the last Wednesday of the month.

Most excellent, this gives me another week to sort some round rolling things.

Yeah to be fair they were probably well stocked for burger buns last week when they were expecting our visit, haha.

Oh if we wanna blast cyclists I've got a good'n. End of Albany heights road I had passed her about 100m before the end (the steep hill bit), I then come up to the stop sign at the end and I'm turning left (indicator blinking of course) and she comes up on my left, I didn't think much of it and at this stage we're still on good terms, I was aware that I was going to have to give it a wide berth so as not to cut her off if she decides to pull out at the same time I did. Except when there finally was a gap and I go to pull out, she's not turning left, she's turning right! She pretty much rides into the side of my car and I nearly knocked her off her bike and then she goes apeshit at me telling me I need to be aware of cyclists and I could have killed her. What the actual fuck lady? I give her an earful and she says she's going to report me, was really looking forward to the conversation if a cop turned up to hear my side of the story on that one.
Lonely track road / Albany Heights road seems to be a haven for fuckwits of all vehicular enthusiasm.

My flatmate and I drive the same stretch of lonely track road within 5 minutes of each other most days, about a year ago we went through a phase of both of us on different days nearly having a head on collision with the same driver on multiple occasions as she'd come blatting around blind corners on the wrong side of the road.
Then she got a new car and kept doing the same thing. We both gave her plate to the cops cos no amount of horn honking or high beaming made any difference.
Then she stopped and we haven't seen her since.
Better work stories.

I have no problems changing date so that rad out of towners can make it along, it's not like I have jack shit to do on any given Wednesday.

Metal to bog ratio is pretty good for an old english car. Can you date the repairs with newspaper articles?

What: 1993 Mazda MX5
Why: Because I missed my old MX5 from a few years ago and as much as I loved the Escort, I pined for that two seater open top lushness that only a roadster can bring.
When: A little over a month ago
How: Swapped the Escort for the MX5. Trade up or trade down depends on your perspective of these things.
What's next: ditch the nasty knockoff wheels, tidy up a few bits here and there and enjoy the feeling of summer time wind in your hair and being called a faggot by passing strangers.

After very nearly not making it along, I'm stoked I pulled finger and did what needed doing and dragged myself along, frikken amazing day. Some sweet sheds, epic toys (that jet engine...!), great banter as always and top notch hospitality. Top marks go to Neal and Ben for going the extra mile.
A++ would trade again!
