  1. Is friend went to a marine expo in witch he found a company that got given a task from a boat team. They needed a knife that their guys could wear on them, could cut through any top with ease and be light.

They 3D printed the knifes from some sort of metal, they were sharp from the get go (sharp edge was printed) and it came with a printed sheath they could wear as a necklace. And while thing weighed not much more then I lighter.

Can be done, time vs effort vs materials

It's seeming more like wood molds CNC'd would seem like less hassle but it's still costly

I'll see what else comes up

  2. Ive seen acetone vapour being used to smoothen the surface of 3D printed parts.

The issues with it are controlling the level of smoothening (defined edges are lost as are small details) and the biggest issue is inhaling the vapour.

I think your best bet would be with applying an epoxy coating.

The other thing to consider is the softening temp of the 3D printed plastic. If you apply a heat gun to remove the mould there is a risk of distorting the mould.

You can resolve it by using a specialised high temp 3D print plastic.

The more important question is what size parts are you making? Machine bed sizes are limited in 3D printing with the largest accurate machine I know of being 600x600x600mm

FIRST MEET??If you are new to these meets here are a few points that may help,Most people usually show up between 730 and 8 ish,We roll down to get burgers sometime around 8 / 8:15 ish. Or whenever you feel like really. We sit around either at burgerfuel or back up top and continue the yarns.Remember its always a casual affair , a place to yarn to mates and make new ones.An oldschool car is not required at all, of course if youve got one on the road then bring it and show it off!! Doesnt need to be flash or special.SOME OF THESE ARE NEW, MOST OF THESE ARE COMMON SENSE. WE WILL PROVIDE A FEW GENTLE REMINDERS WITH THE NEW RULES BUT REPEAT OFFENDERS MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

    RULES AND THE BORING STUFF!!

Basically these are in place so we have a fun and friendly meet and leave the carpark clean and tidy like we were never there.

    • Take your rubbish away with you or put it in a bin, (Use the public bins downstairs not the private ones belonging to the business up top
    • Smokers please don't dispose of your butts on the ground!
    • Please limit the ALCOHOL consumption. Its a public place and the Police/security regularly stop in and we don't want want anyone getting in trouble, We also don't want people leaving empties around.
    • You are welcome to invite a few mates, but please note you are 100% responsible for their behaviour
    • If you belong to other clubs and feel they might be keen to come check out our meet then that's cool but please see BDA780, Threeonthetree or 73crownwagon for permission before inviting them.
    • NO Skids or Reckless/Dangerous driving
    • Please leave a space near the fenced off area clear for the cleaners and don't block them in if they are there.
    • Park in a proper carpark! If its full then just use a bit of common sense and try not to park to many people in.
    • Newschool cars please park to one side and be prepared to move if we get short on space.
    • If its raining and we have to park downstairs then new cars park upstairs or out of the way. The covered carpark is very small and needs to be OS only,

If you have any suggestions or input for the meets then PM BDA780 , Threeonthetree or 73crownwagon Thanks!!

  4. I'm planning to be there tomorrow. So how does it work getting in? Do I park outside and walk in or can I drive in with my E28? I haven't been before so not sure how it works.

Go in through the gate nearest Kumeu township for display cars.

Best route there if coming from the shore is to go left at the roundabout to taupaki and then go around the back of the showgrounds to the entry.

  5. Sorry mate, we're all sold out at this stage. I'll try and get some more but it won't be quick.

Also, come and introduce yourself. I saw you at Drag day but come and get amongst it, make yourself known (like your car haha). It's kind of the prerequisite before we hand out stickers

Do you know what happened to the ones i was meant to be sent?

I have stickers PM me for deets Caylum
