  2. Just saw the later post. A couple of weeks is fine as there's no rush. I only have the one sample but am happy to drop it off for you to do your magic.

Yeah happy to give it a crack. I can sort something out to get it in the weekend if thats cool.

Ah yeah silicon mould would work too. You could give that a try after making the CAD model.

  3. Im not sure how moulding it with that fine detail would be cheaper.

SLS is the only cheap way or if you want super fine detail stereolithography (SLA) is your go but much more expensive.

I'm keen to CAD it up for a challenge but it would take a couple weeks.

You'd be looking at ~$5 per part to print.

  4. All was swell until this…

It was cruising like a dream at 100 clicks until the engine cut out.

I left the car in the workshop for a couple weeks (read: over a month) until the old boy decided to have a gander at the distributor where it was found that the spring for the points had broken. With a distributor raided from many spares the Escort lives again ready for the All Ford Day tomorrow.

  5. So 10 months later I decided to purchase a bone stock engine so I could enjoy the car in summer and ultimately cruise to Leadfoot.

I bought a 1300 crossflow out of a MK2 Escort from a dude on Escort Cortina parts and sales on Facebook. It was decided to give it a simple fresh up, coat of paint and obligatory flywheel lightening before putting into the car and thanks to shaneo I was able to source some rectangular rubber engine mounts.

My old man, rot808 and rotorhoe did the lion’s share of the work and thanks to all their efforts and some help from Manon Butler Motors it was able to make it to Leadfoot trouble free.

  6. Ah right, here is the build thread.

What I failed to mention in the last update was in addition to lowering the rear of the car, I also applied 1x hacksaw to the resonator as a baffle had moved creating a painfully annoying rattle.

This resulted in another interesting feature which will be discussed shortly.

After completing these minor tasks the car was ready for OS Nationals or so I thought. Only a couple of km’s from home on the motorway in peak hour traffic it decided to die. It didn’t take long to determine it was a dead battery, thanks to help from fellow OS member DougD who was on his morning commute. Once towed back home, an all morning jaunt to find a replacement battery in order to make track day resulting in a couple sessions at Hampton Downs.

This is where it went wrong…

I was told to take it easy at the track, which is easier said than done. On the drive to Coroglen the oil light flashed on twice suggesting imminent damage to the engine. Furthermore, black smoke was observed by those following me. This led to the engine being frequently topped up with oil over the weekend and resulting in fumes entering the cabin when taking gomaxgo and Horse25 to Auckland airport.

This was further worsened by the shortened exhaust system asphyxiating all inside and temporary exhaust bracket being dislodged creating an annoying rattle of the exhaust hitting the diff when unloaded.

Despite these pitfalls the car was great fun at dirt speedway head to head racing and was head car in the Nationals group photo.

However right after the event it was decided to park the car until another engine could be put in.

  7. Of all the Capri models to get 6 figures I would not have predicted a Brooklands.

RS3100 and 2600's are in that ball park now. At least they are RS models.

If low km 190EII's are $600k I wonder what low km M3 Evos are worth.

Lol you well out of the loop pusherman. RS Mk1s and Mexicos are commanding massive money in UK now.

FIRST MEET??If you are new to these meets here are a few points that may help,Most people usually show up between 730 and 8 ish,We roll down to get burgers sometime around 8 / 8:15 ish. Or whenever you feel like really. We sit around either at burgerfuel or back up top and continue the yarns.Remember its always a casual affair , a place to yarn to mates and make new ones.An oldschool car is not required at all, of course if youve got one on the road then bring it and show it off!! Doesnt need to be flash or special.SOME OF THESE ARE NEW, MOST OF THESE ARE COMMON SENSE. WE WILL PROVIDE A FEW GENTLE REMINDERS WITH THE NEW RULES BUT REPEAT OFFENDERS MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE.

    RULES AND THE BORING STUFF!!

Basically these are in place so we have a fun and friendly meet and leave the carpark clean and tidy like we were never there.

    • Take your rubbish away with you or put it in a bin, (Use the public bins downstairs not the private ones belonging to the business up top
    • Smokers please don't dispose of your butts on the ground!
    • Please limit the ALCOHOL consumption. Its a public place and the Police/security regularly stop in and we don't want want anyone getting in trouble, We also don't want people leaving empties around.
    • You are welcome to invite a few mates, but please note you are 100% responsible for their behaviour
    • If you belong to other clubs and feel they might be keen to come check out our meet then that's cool but please see BDA780, Threeonthetree or 73crownwagon for permission before inviting them.
    • NO Skids or Reckless/Dangerous driving
    • Please leave a space near the fenced off area clear for the cleaners and don't block them in if they are there.
    • Park in a proper carpark! If its full then just use a bit of common sense and try not to park to many people in.
    • Newschool cars please park to one side and be prepared to move if we get short on space.
    • If its raining and we have to park downstairs then new cars park upstairs or out of the way. The covered carpark is very small and needs to be OS only,

If you have any suggestions or input for the meets then PM BDA780 , Threeonthetree or 73crownwagon Thanks!!
