Happy to pick people up from the airport and take to hanmer. Will most likely have 2 seats available in the bogantina
i suspect mine is more bogan than your Karl
-
he doesn't want cert for battery in boot though. so weird!
battery in boot is a cert job???
-
mantra for all thrash vehicles:"drive it like you stole it" .but yes,i like it a lot, simply because it proves you dont need a high hp turbo monster to go hard
-
yup,its about all its good for at the moment, lmao.for those that are interested, the springs have lost 4 coils per front, and 3 per rear, resulting in 145mm lowering job, lmfao

well, this is the XF i pulled out of a paddock a few months ago.dereg, had been sitting in a paddock for 4 years not running.hook battery up along with jumper cables, hello 4.1 springing into life.this is it as picked up on the trailer, yours truly in the background behind the black pathfinder.
had a few "aftermarket modifications"
anywho, got it home(towed it from dunsandel to chch)
gave it a waterblast the next day(mid blast here)
anyway, this brings us up to the past week,in which time ive decided to take it out for a skid comp on the 7th of april.so far the bits that cant be seen that ive modded are:
extra throttle return springs
locked diff(2.77:1 ratio, aka shit for skids)
alloy battery clamp.
and mods that can be seen............
note front bumper is just sitting there for now.
so,to summarise:
GOOD POINTS:
mint running 4.1 carby 6
smooth shifting auto
4 mint tyres(have shitty s5 rx7 rims to burn out)
everything electric works,including electric windows!!
interior is tidy minus carpet from the "Aftermarket mods" and a hole in drivers seat
IT WAS FREE
BAD POINTS:
RUST,and a lot of it.bottom of both front and rear windscreens,both a pillars around hinges,drivers sill,bonnet,r/f guard,r/r guard,bootlid,bottom corner of l/h C pillar.
deregistered
carpet is fooked.
so,feel free to hurl abuse/suggestions/replace with a camry

i do declare i have seen this getting around chch before, nice example
-
what for? you have just lowered it aye, nothing about the details you have supplied right there suggest you need loops
only other noteable mod is a sierra 5 speed, which uses all factory parts anyway so doesnt need cert(as far as i know anyway)
-
seeing as we are on the subject of driveshafts loops,my partner and i are looking at getting our mk5 sport certed for lowering as when its on 13s its 70mm at Xmember.because its running more or less stock motor will i need loop??well,2 loops cause its a 2 piece shaft

for those that are interested, thats MY bluebird with me driving as the chase vehicle for the rx7.we are NOT sure what happened other than the obvious stepping out sidways off the line, but my good mate who was driving is absolutely gutted that he hit the 808,he would far rather that it was the rx7 that got rolled.last night was spent at the drivers house going through the videos and pictures, but until he pulls the car apart we dont actually know what happened.pegasus bay have an investigation going as well, all video footage has been given to them to help as well.Driver of the RX7 is very shaken up(as am i following it from 100m away),Driver of the 808 is in good spirits although with a very sore neck,as to be expected
-
i also enjoyed that RX7,personal favourite part is the switches for ignition and starting

From all acoounts I have heard, adding deadening to the roof makes the roadnoise substansially quieter..
They reckon it's worth it as the roof works like a massive "drum skin" if you will and it reflects a lot of sound.
also planning on doing the boot and the floor,so once its back on the rd will be able to report if theres any difference(should be a few weeks)
-
im doing the same with the mk5 sport in the next few days, using jaycar product also.mate recommended doing it as reinforcement after we spent a couple of hours reworking the roof with hammers, dollies and gas plant after the previous owner sat all over it *facepalm*
-
learnt the pod myth the hard way,put one on the daily, ran like a sack of shit and waaay down on power, changed back to stock airbox with HKS panel filter and a decent cold air feed from inside the guard, runs waaaaay better and has more pick up.also better on gas funnily enough
-
Yea, im still on the fence weather i should have let them put it in there or not. They hunted it out on facebook and asked me through there if they could run it in the mag.
Kinda thinking it would have been cooler to finish first.
yes and no IMO.yeah it would have been cool to see a feature done on it once its finished, but at the same time how often do you see a Carina in that mag??lol.id love to get my hands on an AA60 one day,had one lined up but then the guy who was storing it backed the tractor over it >

i spotted this lurking in the back of the latest performance car mag

they just cut up yaldhurst road around the corner from my house, the fucking drain sticks up 40mm + and youd nearly get air on the transitions from old road to 'fixed' road.
fucks me off, why cant they fix something thats actually broken (they didnt do any drain work, just cut up the top seal, fucked up and then painted lines on it'
hence ive been avoiding yaldhurst rd ae,its a c**t > .bu yeah,50mm is a good height, ill be doing 70mm once the sport is back on the rd(month or so i reckon )
-
I think it's more about entry and exit angles that will fail you - it's what was questioned on mine but I managed to convince him otherwise..
valid point there oh wise one, especially with the way things are in chch at the moment(still :/ )
-
typical ltnz,as vague as any of us after a hard night on the piss.however,im with you guys,if its custom built below 100mm to begin with its not technically modified so shouldnt need cert.as it is i was going to make my chassis rails sit bang on 100mm off the rd,because way i see it with the right length ramps any car should be able to get on it
-
As I am a WOF inspector all this talk of slammed trailers got me looking into the rules, so I rang NZTA and was told;
There is no requirement for a trailer to have suspension.
There is no minimum height for a trailer.
Now I wan one damn it.
this is now relevant to my interests as im planning on building a low slung car trailer in the near future

Do you know how much moneys to fill the tank from empty ?
we filled it from spluttering around a year ago at about $2 a litre for 91 octane,155 dollars later she was full to the brim
-
The only question I have is above you said open to anything oldschool japanese. Just wondering about other countries I guess?
+1,although ill be there anyway if both my mates are racing their drag cars(s1 and s5 rx7s)
-
hey R100,old mans D21 pathfinder is VG30e 5 speed manual.can get from our place in chch to greymouth on half a tank,so good on the open road.round town...........bloody thing drinks like a V8,would be lucky if we get 350km out of a tank :/

hey guys,im moving the battery to the boot in the mk5 sport,do i need a sealed battery box for a normal battery or can i just clamp it down as it would have been in the engine bay??
