Also, just cause I've been punting it around more lately and it flew through another wof today. An honorable mention to the 156. Admittedly I got this very cheap. But I've seen a few of these and the 147s in the same spec pop up for 3-5k
The 1.9JTDM 16v engine is a peach. 150hp and 6 speed manual is really good to drive. Really punchy. Yet can return 5-5.5L/100k if driven nice. Really comfy, all the mod cons you want with none you don't need. Handsome as fuck. Handles fantastic. And even with 270k on the clock it's been super reliable for the last year and a half I've had it. Trying to think of something that ticks as many boxes as this does for less than 3k and I can't haha.
hooo boy, I also browse these cos they look cool and are bargain priced, so it's interesting to hear you got some reliability out of one. 147 and 156 have the same running gear?

In semi-related paint-barry chat i have an expensive Legend house paint brush that got gummed up with water based paint+insufficient cleaning+years of storage
I bought some resene brush cleaner which is toluene i think. Maybe the same as gun wash?
i soaked the brush in that for a while and it’s brought it back to life

1kz ones are expensive because people who like to remove the rear bumpers and put str8 pipes and roof tents and 15x10 steel Chinese wheels and 4 inch snorkels and lift the suspension till there's no droop travel on them so they can do donuts on spotted dotterel nests , think they are worth $15k
such gold. but not only spotted dotterels, nature of all kinds

oh gawd. How is tesla earning carbon credits?
I can't deny that the sales and marketing team at Tesla are top notch. I have two friends that have bought teslas brand new. One a model 3, the other a model Y. Both are university-educated professionals, with university-educated wives and sets of youngish kids. They both are the kind of guys who would google the shit out of any purchase they made, yet nothing ever came up with the car they were about to buy. Not the dodgy suspension or the range-faking algorithm, or the self-drive that kills people. I wonder if they get them serviced?

and no scheduled servicing? so the brake fluid will never get changed? nor the cabin air filter? weird

nice buy!
I saw one of these the other day and my first thought was how tiny it was. They'd be a similar size to an MX5 wouldn't they? Any luggage space for trips?

Depends on service history I reckon. If it's got documented history showing the rebuild/replacement of major components then I think you could get the average price for one of these. Which is probably less than a petrol one would bring, the price of diesel has changed everything.
If no documentation then it's really just scrap value isn't it? Any buyer would have to budget on engine and drivetrain rebuilds, probably at inconvenient times in inconvenient places.

Hi, I have had several of these
It's probably the hose from the oil tank to the pump. All ov mine have leaked from there, or the oil level sensor, they also all leak
looks same spot as the piaggios and aprilias I have had leak all their oil out.
You were so right, Tortron. It was the oil level sensor. All fixed today and the neph is back on the road. Apparently he is heading out tonight to see John Wick 4! Thanks again

You didn't consider the 40v Makita stuff?

how much, ow?
-
Thanks for that Tortron. The rebuilt racks on TM seem to be the best bet so far. $700 odd if I supply an exchange unit

Thanks Tortron. So you reckon I can put the seals in myself? I thought it would need special tools

Orrright, AU fix-it time again!
My steering rack is spewing oil. It looks to be from where the steering column goes in
Any knowledge on rebuilds? Anyone got a used rack lying around?
So far, my research has turned up...
Used rack, no warranty, $200
Used rack, 90 day warranty, $350
Rack rebuild from a power steering shop in ChCh, $600
Rebuilt rack ex Oz $976 (on Trade-me)
Whaddaya reckon, AU fans?

Shit we’re a brainy bunch here at the oldest school!
I went to south korea last month and the impression I got was that if you work for a living you’re a schmuck.
they are all real estate speculators and ticket clippers
but the supermarket shelves are stacked, petrol is cheaper than NZ, and aliexpress advertises a 5 day delivery time.
maybe our problem is just transport related. If we lowered the cost of transport somehow our product shortages might be solved?
