  1. I am yet to own a Rotary, but have had two mates here with Battys which I've always loved, and a couple of (older) mates from Oz who, whenever drunk, regaled me with stories from their youth about destroying V8s with their rx3s/running from the cops on Katanas etc.. Boss is rebuilding an rx4 which ill try nab some pics of.

In the meantime ill just keep pining.

Any tips for horrible brake dust contamination? Tempted to try to clean up old wheels but looks like hard work,  so the cantbefuckeds are strong...

Supa Rip may be what is mentioned above ^ make sure you weer gloves and do it in a ventilated area as that shit rips hands and lungs as well as brake dust. Real stubborn shit can be scrubbed with a small squirt on a piece of scotchbrite (although obviously this area will need re-polished afterwards).

  4. Apologies if a topic already exists as I could not locate.

I want to upgrade my horn, I want something loud and strong.

What have you guys used? Either off the shelf or something I can raid from pickapart would be ideal..

Poor quality pic, but this has sat in this spot for at least 5 years. Tempted to knock on the front door and have a chat.

Man always wanted one of those! Pretty sad. They're worth heaps these days too, unfortunately so are parts for them/probably why it's there in the first place. Still id love to have it sitting in my driveway.

If you believe that a bit of vivid or twink somewhere in the engine bay means the cambelts been done you need to back to car buying 101..

Unfortunately enough people DO believe that, which is why sellers try it on..

Nothing better than the note of panic that flickers across their face when you pull out your jack and tools and ask to have a decent look at it.

Worth a crack I'd already committed to getting a towbar on and got an email from him saying he would pay for CV's that were shot, time came for him to pay for those and he went silent. Chasing an oil leak a few weeks back found it still has original cambelt which he swore black and blue was done he produced receipts so i was happy at time.

Thats what has tipped me over edge to chase it up again, if i get entertained wasting his time I'll be happy only after the cost to get it to the condition it was advertised as being in.

Man that grinds my gears. And when someone is trying to sell you a car and is like, "yeah the cambelt just got done last month, there's the date on the cover" points to the date scribbled in twink on the only square inch of the engine bay that has seen a hand for years..

*Edit, this just reminded me of when I was looking at an A4, and the seller proved to me that it had been maintained and had a stamp for the cambelt in the service schedule, and it was only when I noticed the colour code in the service manual was wrong that I realized the manual was in fact from another, apparently well serviced, A4.

I was pretty disappointed in those 1.8t gti golfs. When I was selling my 2zz runx a guy was gonna swap me one of them plus a bit of cash my way. So we both took each other’s car for a drive and man it felt sluggish. The 2zz would’ve annihilated it. Thought both being 1.8 but one being turbo and one being vvtli it would be reasonably even, maybe even more so in the golfs favour being churbro but yeah was a bit of an anticlimax haha.

May have been an issue with it? I had a 99Gti for a while (was the Mrs) and sluggish would have been the last word I would choose to describe it. Hell fun to drive too. And as much as I love RWD, the FWD felt very planted on the West Auckland roads I commute on (and I mean Huia Rd spec, not Don Buck Rd spec lol). Would own another in a sec if I could find the fabled "well maintained vw".

As an aside with dodgy car sales, it’s amazing the number of written off HSV and SS late model Commodores that are being sold here after being fixed up. On FB fuck all people mention it and you only find out by car jamming the rego plate. Pretty important info when stat write off on the title wipes 20-30K off the value

How do you tell if it's been written off on carjam? (serious question)
