  1. Random question for the day, when I push on the brake pedal it seems to be sending a spike through the vans electrics and will occasionally cause the stereo to trip and turn off and restart and you can see the headlights (when they are on) and dash lights flicker/surge whne you push the pedal (i suspect its when the brake light switch is triggered). Before starting on a wild goose hunt, any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Cheers

    Your stereo earth?

I wired up a half assed attempt with the mrs car stereo and first time we had to touch the brake pedal is tripped the stereo and dash lights went crazy. Was just bad wiring on my behalf and a better earth solved it all.

Pretty sure that was the solution...

  2. Cheers snoozin. Will order some. You used them before? Which product would be best to go for or should I just grab the kit? I'm leaning towards the kit as it has all the crap I need to get into hard to reach areas

Ill have a little online search now scanner.

  3. where can I get some good cavity wax? maybe one to be used with someone to treat surface rust or even if the wax it self sorts it out. want to do my own car and don't know if the crap from repco is sufficient. want to do sills, guards, doors, roof, everything.

    fish oil smells.

    thanks

  4. I can just imagine having chain picked out of your face in hospital after being in an accident.

Ive seen what wheels such as momo and wildcat do after a persons face get smashed into them.

Got myself a face full of 3 spoke nardi goodness, mean gash on the forehead and fractured skull with a brain bleed to go with it. nice little hospital stay.

  5. I need the trim! If you need specifics they are the bits that go from the front guard trim to wrap around to the bonnet. Also a boot lid, maybe a dash that doesn't have stereo and gauge holes cut in it would be awesome too!

I also need one of those window catch/latches for the passenger side triangle window. Mine self destructed.

  6. The Repco one is the best haha! "Mate, it doesn't exist" *standing right in front of it*

I had a good one where I was at repco trying to get gaskets for the Vauxhall 3.3L engine, guy kept wanting the number plate which was no help as has completely different engine now.

He finally searched on his computer and was like "Vauxhall don't make a 3.3, theres a 3298cc though" I was shocked at his epic rounding down...

  7. Once matts cars done ben we doing mine, yours can sit at the back of the queue.

For ignition I would just run an electronic setup to remove the points, extractors you could prob by off the shelf from coby, and webers did you want to go new or second hand?

  8. Not all companies do this though. Usually it's specific insurers, like performance or classic.

General insurers more often than not offer you the insurance you're probably expecting. You insure for 10k, as long as the car is in good condition before the time of the loss you are entitled to that 10k.

I didn't say all, just read the fine print before you commit and also ask them about the agreed value.

If you go down the market value / agreed value which ever is the lesser your bound to get fucked over.

Also look at additional excesses etc, dunno how old you are but a lot of companies tack heaps on if you claim. Under 25, inexperience driver, special excess for your vehicle type, previous incidents etc

  9. Proteca insurance will pay the lesser of the agreed value and the market value, so just be careful you know what your market value is and make sure it's relative to your agreed value.

A lot are like this. No point going agreed as half the time you just pay more and get reemed when you claim.

  10. Always read the fine print.

If you are wanting to agree value your car you will find most places will offer you a "agreed value" but then try their hardest to pay out market value or less. Banks are like this.

  11. Definitely not fixable. Roofs buckled. Passenger floor folded in with the B-Pillar. I have third party. Speaking to them now.

Who is your third party with?

Certain companies cover you for an amount of cover against uninsured cunts. Its usually only up to 5k or so but that's prob more than enough for a new one. That way you don't have to chase them up through court to get 5 buck a week of some welfare mother (judging by the forester I would say that's an accurate guess)

I always make sure my third party insurance has this, so many uninsured people out there and getting peanuts sucks

  12. Hey im interested in one of these.

Is it possible to hook up to a horn to alert people if I want to trigger it? Could I also hide my own battery pack somewhere so if the power is disabled to the car I still have heaps of juice left to find it.

I got myself a evo 5. Would like a GPS so if cunts pinch it I can get it back easier.

  13. Could be a possibilty Dave. I once removed two very crispy mice from the back of an electric range.

So other than not pumping out the water it spins and does all the rest all good?

Investigate that water pump if so. My issue was real obvious but once you start tearing washing machines apart they are pretty basic internally.

  14. Had same issue before on a difference machine. The tub actually rotated but wouldn't remove the water, same issue as you? The propeller in the water pump had come off. Glued that bad boy back on and all was good.

Was a real easy fix if everything else still works.
