  1. Finding a lenient VTNZ, is like trying to find a culturally sensitive Nazi. They're all a pack of cunts. I think AA testing in hornby can do stickers too.

And a guy at work reckoned that wayne martin can do them as well now too. (Best to ring him and ask though)

Is wayne martin still on/just off moorhouse?

  2. Dude, there is/was an establishment down by AMI stadium who steam cleans the underside/enclosed bits of trucks and stuff.

We went there before we pulled my car to bits because the engine had shat itself and EVERYTHING was coated in oil/internal bits and they charged me $20 cash for the top of the engine bay and $20 for the bottom.

This was a super pumped up industrial steam cleaner/water blaster combo.

Best thing we could have done as engine/bay was all sparkly like afterwards.

They had a big ramp that you drove up on and they stood in the pit between to do it.

Could not recommend more, especially for the price. If they still exist

  3. yeah yeah know that its just that I hate the MAN sooooooo much :D

Got a quote from nac today for the track car. Its twice the cost of what I'm paying now  but its also double the insured value :D

quotes to come from classic cover, swann and some other bitches

  4. I believe it is time to shake things up at AMI (pun not intentional) and will be looking at swann or AA for the fleet as none are daily drivers/all are modified to some degree and AMI keep depreciating them which i dislike

agreed value will always depreciate unless you have fixed value cover, better you know what they think your car is worth at renewal instead of after its been written off like you would with any sort of sum insured or market value policy. just ask them to put it back up, simple.

Yeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh, went in today and told em to put it back up to the value as stated on the previous valuation.

No problemo, I do this every year with them but time to get new valuations whilst i price up alternative options.

I asked to put our contents up to cover some recent exuberant purchases but, "oh wait we can't increase cover because of earthquakes- but if you look just there you'll see its gone up anyway because of inflation."

This must be the only thing that goes up in line with inflation ie wages never do etc

Also why don't you inflate the price of my cars and house then!

  6. or

Go to the states like I did in 2005 and drive a POS Dodge Neon. Was uber cheap but what an awful car.

At least even the worst American cars can do one thing right - thats 80-90mph on the interstate cruise control, 43 degrees outside = me asleep at the wheel for at least 2 min on a dead straight road through Arizona whilst my passenger was also snoozing!

Moral of story: Once you've driven 2000 mostly straight miles, you can do it whilst asleep!

I recall the yanks whinging about gas prices everywhere we went as it had just broken $2.50 a gallon.

Can't believe we didn't get a viper or ferrari or corvette as the rental places in Vegas were keen to rent them out.

I'd like to go over again to visit/spectate Indy, Pylon racing and confederates airforce.

Maybe when the mortgage is paid up!

  7. The organisers of track days should be ok with it though you will look like a douche/dirt biker :P

As for proper events, you'll need to check the label inside the helmet against the regulations, though if you don't feel safe in it you should not take it for granted.

Can't put a price on safety

  8. Alas, we pulled the bench of awesomeness out of our shed so we could get all them AAARRRRR automobiles crammed in there. (its a semi permanent temporary situation! )

Anyway, it had maybe 4 100x100 timber legs and the top was 6 ex 300x100 timber beams which we cut up and notched to make more sturdy boards to go over the pit ( :D )

It was a sweet, rock solid bench and was soaked right trough with oil too.

We figured the cars would not break down for a few years before being in a situation to reinstate etc, probly just wait to build whole new garage.............

  9. This statutory definition covers places to which the public have access - whether of right or not. For an example, read the definition of 'road' in the Land Transport Act 1998 (on the Public Access to Legislation Project website). Take particular note of paragraph (d) and the words 'A place to which the public have access, whether as of right or not'.

Another feature, not seen often overseas, is the specific inclusion of a beach as a road. This allows local authorities to set speed limits on beaches, and also allows the New Zealand Police to enforce traffic laws, such as registration requirements, that apply to the on-road use of motor vehicles.

The definition aims to ensure that the public are protected from the misuse of motor vehicles, even in areas where we would not ordinarily expect to find motor vehicles. It is important to note that the definition does not give a right of access to any area covered by it, but rather ensures that the Act, and others like it, applies regardless of any public rights of access and use.

Because of the wide scope of the definition, the courts have developed a number of principles that they apply when considering whether a place is a road. These include that:

'public' means the public in general, and not just a section of the public

it is not enough that the place is physically open to the public - they must be shown to be actually using it.

 at so many words yet no clarity/sense

WTF does all that shit actually mean? I'm too hammered to decipher it atm.

what that guy said, sounds like a load to me

  10. Fuck man it's $26, don't buy a box of piss this week then?

also, in my experience old cars can be opened with a popsicle stick.

When I locked keys in car, go to dairy, buy and eat icecream, unlock car with stick.

    Done

    AW11's are so easy.

Pop bonnet and use bonnet stand through window.

Thing is I kicked the habit of locking myself out before I got the AW, but yeah.

Popsicle stick opened an 83 mazda 323

  12. Sweet ride there mate. I love these things tho am more of a fan of the 4 door sedan shape.

We have a GT spec one in the garage in classic "prairie gold"...... magic :)

There are not many unmolested ones left and if you had made it further south to Dunedin then you would have found a million of them. They are everywhere down there!

Such an epic wee car especially since built in NZ. Not many of us can say our car was NZ made.

Our one has just ticked over 235,000km though the 4age went in at 140,000.

Alas, its not a true GT but has had the full conversion to disc brakes, engine etc and later model 15" GT wheels.

 just a wee bit. would be more if we didn't have our own one :D

  13. I know a someone at toyota and they told me RRP$1200 ex japan, asked for special price then rang back to say that special price is $1450 because trd price rise on 1st Feb 2011 = DOH!

Yeah, gonna get it back on the road as takes up too much space in pieces all other the floor.

Will be keeping eyes peeled for cheap lsd goodness but..................

PM me for addy if you wanna send me a free one :P

Got 3 track days in one week the 1st week of april so woulda been awesome but meh

  14. Chur for ya'll help/advice guys, unfortunately I have had to shelve the lsd for now as it be getting a tad too pricey for right now.

Will get the replacement box checked out and cleaned up and shove it back in a week or two.

Still learning to drive with the adjustables ( :D ) anywho so wanna master that before I get too carried away.

So ya know, new trd lsd for C52 was $1500 excl gst/freight and out of japan.

  15. nah ah.

You forgot to teach me to read japanese silly.

Also, gimme 90,000 yen for the mechanical one

You won't find an VLSD for C series anyway, so stop these points are pointless :P .

Only one not discontinued apparently, is that the torsen one?

  16. This was less than useful btw

Mr toyota man was reluctant to price 1st time round

    http://trdparts.jp/english/parts_lsd_mechanical.html like this then

    gears

    Yes, they wear out.

Viscous has no parts that are in direct contact. It's like an automatic torque converter.

It relies on the special viscous oil to do the work.

Search viscous fluid and you get something like "Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress".

With the special diff oil you end up with a fluid that will let a certain amount of slip happen but then lock solid once said limit is exceeded.

The only thing that wears is the oil and that is cheap when compared to the time and parts it takes to change a clutch LSD.

Clutch type is the go though.

Extra for experts: Mix corn flower with water and be bewildered at how you can manipulate it.

Yep, what he said................ my brain hurts........ too much learnding today :)
