got it done hardest part was getting belt on me bloody arms are killing me from leaning over the front panel, should be good to go now belts, tensioner, idler done, adjsuted steering box, greased linkages, all the filters and oil,new engine mount that will do her for a while....
-
cool and ye the mount can be done in situ as tyrone (the getaway driver in snatch) says its a bit tight!!!! slip of the two bolts holding mount the subframe and two bolts on top holding to steel engine mount, jack the engine up on that side and the mount should slide out (just) with a bit of wiggling.
-
yep all in the name will give them a ring see if they will pop out cant harm to ask, once i see it done i will go ah shit thats easy and know from then on.
cheers for the numbers bang on

oh and super cheap do litre bottles of oil to was told its slightly thicker than engine oil if its any help
-
thanks guys after searching the net couldnt find any joy so went to mitre ten and had a look at theirs and saw it was just a sponge filter for intake so got a replacement in a local spot,as for the new pressure switch same deal couldnt find one online and searched ebay uk they are here and will post for £11
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT
im sure they can be got here fecked if i could find them though so for 40 bucks it arrived at my door yesterday 6 days prob around the same price here if they can be found.
also super cheap do screw in filters were i was missing mine for something like 10 dollars.
-
alright lads
bought a cheap compressor on trade me with a few issues, needs a new pressure switch no prob one on the way but it was also missing a pipe/connector at the head it looks to me like a filter maybe for the air in but im not sure and new to the locality so not sure were to go!!!
anyway pics always help first its the hole without the elbow bend.
i am presuming the small copper pipe goes to the new pressure switch
is the bigger pipe that goes back to the head the feed to the tank and the small copper pipe the unloader pipe/valve or the other ways round??
its a cobra mac 2540 prob a p.o.s but itll do me for the mo....
any help will be rewarded with many thanks and virtual beer (ie nothing much but appreciated all the same)
also what oil do they take normal 10w 40 engine oil do or is some thing lighter needed
cheers peoples

230bhp from the dutchmans one what do you hope to get if its 160bhp dont give me a drive you might not get it back!!!!!!!!
you vivaing friday do you need some help? need to give the mazda a run
-
no probs have heaps of pics from over the years, been to a few of the asoc yearly gatherings and to moffat in scotland nothing like seeing 20 tigers in a row,the avenger engine responds well to a bit of tuning it wont leave a flaming set of 11s behind but they can be fun.mal stuart in the uk is building 1700 engines putting out 190bhp at the flywheel although it costs about 4k sterling to do that....but he is a good source for tuning stuff
http://www.malstuartmotorsport.net/
top bloke even though he is in his early 70s the websites an interesting read to if your into your avengers
-
so how goes the avenger good to see your still chipping away at it,just in case you dont know they are the same stud pattern as ford so you can chose any early ford wheels,i like the lotus steels myself although they only 6" wide,i had set of widend rostyles on a green one i had which looked good although were a bit rough
sorry bout the crap photo they did look good, the mk1 tiger had four spotlamps and had a bracket that bolted to the bumper hanger they are easy to fabricate saves drilling bumpers i mounted my oscars on the green one on a bit of box section bolted between the bumper hangers worked fine and didnt have to mount to body or drill bumpers and they were super steady with a bit of extended hoseclip onto two holes in slam panel.
should have a pic somewere of a green one on superlights i visited in malta ah yes here they are
here is a pic of a brm headed 1800 brazillian that hillclimbs in limerick he has a spare engine to,i also know were there is one for sale in malta the owner of the green avenger above you would be lookin at the thick end of 16k dollars though
check out some of the rally guys for lowered springs they can be bought still pretty cheap in uk im sure some have found there way over here at some stage, there is a guy in welly big into the rallying with one i have his contact details and valiant also knows him he might have a spare set he also picked up a 2 door there recently......
look forward to more updates

the asoc (avenger sunbeam owners club) in the uk is about the best for info but its not open forum got to join the club but its only £24 for overseas i know of 2 kiwi members also there is a sunbeam one but it seems to be gone at the moment will keep trying to find it,hunter and avenger engines are different im afraid but im sure you could get one to fit,1600 and 1300 engine block are identical.also 1250 and 1500 engines are all the same in fact all the engines are the same so you shouldnt have any problem interchanging parts.
-
cool nice colour i had a pic somewere of a very cool looking orange one in the uk a while ago will try find it for some mojo enhancing,to fit quad round lights you will need the headlamp backing plates which is a bit involved to remove old ones and fit new ones as they are spotwelded in,was this one advirtised on sella recently...
a few on here now with avengers good to see them all keep up the good work, all the dashes crack to.
i nearly had this bought until seller backed out of deal,i thought she was a stunning looking car as you can see the rectangle headlights look cool to just simple and neat
-
cheers manta a is a mates he hasnt got it long more info and pics here
-
your bonnet is now on its way to blenhiem via the toymota its getting closer..............slowley!!!!!!
-
cheers ye my bro is using volvo 4 pots on his chevette neat enough units, popular ones are princess four pots at home which i had on the sunbeam but they arent much better for the effort really.
happy enough with the way things are going just cant wait to see it finished and on the road will be a while before i get to use it though if ever.
-
up front are a set of gaz coilovers with 2.25 springs, rears are tiger springs shorter and stiffer and spax gas adjustable shocks, front discs are brembo items from mal stuart in uk,i have a set of willwoods for the front but a friend uses them on his rally car and shit they flex a lot under heavy braking so i might try find a set of used ap forestry calipers which are 4 pot also rear is standard drum with mintex shoes, the tiger also has a remote servo to help with braking,i polybushed everything with superpro stuff and there is a heavy duty steering donought from okanes cars in the north of ireland.
-
refurbed engine kept it basically standard although it needed a rebore so new 1600ti pistons were used so cc is up to 1600 now, also new cam a brand new chrysler competitions dept tiger cam kept in storage by an ex employee took a bit of tracking down and painted in the proper chrysler blue.
things have been halted somewhat by the big freeze heres a pic of my old jeep which i gave to my bro before i left
more progress hoped for soon
