  1. palmside in christchurch will have the rubbers or alternatively import them yourself from east kent trim supplies in uk,your local windscreen place may be able to source a new screen ask for laminated if possible and keep ypur old toughned one for safe keeping as a replacement in case.

  2. yes seems to have been an early bmw getrag unit with a dog leg 5th and close ratios in the road spec hs.,Works cars were fitted with the zf direct top 5 speed as found in the lotus sunbeam as standard. so without adapting a bellhousing to suit the getrag box for the avenger 1600 pshrod engine your no further ahead really.

  3. yep o dells road car was lotus powered, now i cant be sure what gearbox the hs chevette had in road spec im guessing the one you have pictured above the bellhousing shape certainly looks like the right shape for lotus 907 or 2.3 slant vauxhall just not sure they were 5 speed.will have a check about on that one.

  5. certainly is you get what you pay for,i have used nearly all of them to get a feel for quality and price and otahuhu worked out the best quality but hard to deal with as in no comunication etc which sometimes irks me but work was good so no complaints really all the rest seem to be second rate slow, unreliable, bad repairs, chrome poor quality and having to send some things back.had some valiant bumpers done where roughly 1200 each the deepr ones some blade jag bumpers were 2k each needed some repairs and a pontiac huge bumper which ended up at over 2k and a poor job in a southern outfit.the first bits i got done were some brand new mk1 transit bumpers i got done by old by in oamaru perfect job they still gleam today 10yrs on he is dead now though and business is gone was a gent off a man too.

  6. i went through all off this recently with some fibreglass bumpers for a mk1 escort rally car customer wanted them chrome so we tried lucent but they can only fit 1.2m in their booth i think the rear bumper was something like 1300,so we got them chrome wrapped in the end finish is mediocre he had trouble on some off the tighter curves at the bottom off the bumper and had to do in two piece, vinyl is pretty expensive too, lucent was approx 800 as an estimate for front and rear bumpers i would have had to cut the rear in half.vinyl wrap worked out at 600 and at that he spent way to long trying to acheive the best finish said he wouldnt try another at that price, but to be fair we have done 2 rallies and they still look ok expecting to have to redo them again at some stage

  7. we did a couple of ones on transits and seem to remember the new ones need the bushes line bored or reamed out so they are true, finding new kingpins is the issue both sets we got from the uk,not a simple straight forward process on those ones anyway most workshops wouldn't have the equipment or know how to them now I'm guessing.

  8. sounds like they are way off the ones we used were no where near that bad can you return them and i can give you the guys details in kaikoura think its just a hobby for him but they fit reasonably well.

fitting rear tubs is a major and cost will be expensive I'm guessing at anything more than 70 dollars an hour, now once its done there is no going back its new rear quarters to return it to standard something to keep in mind if your do go ahead with it.using the method of rolling the outer tub only and splitting on the seam would be good enough for a road car.

i will pm photos if thats ok or better still give me your email address as they are customer cars and don't want to put photos in public forum without permission.will take some tomorrow

    cheers

  9. i have fitted both where did you get your full bubble arch guards from? we fitted some from a guy in kaikoura yes they need some fettling to fit especially how they attach but i got them fitting really good but i did spend a day per guard and made up a flitch panel to attach them at the door pillar.Steel bubbles are the same still need some work to fit good but the price is a lot dearer.Tubbing the rear we have done it both ways from the seam and rolled a new outer tub and folded a lip on the outer guard and have also fitted the whole 15" tubs the former is a lot easier and quicker but a bit harder to do really neatly.Either way its a good 2 to 3 day job for someone good with metal i should think.

we didn't have any issues with cert on either process.but with the 15" tub i doubt you will get the rear seat to fit.

can take photos of what we have done as we have both in the workshop at the moment at the same time.
