Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.
I am really just getting to know her at the mo and getting a list together of all the things that need attention.
Yes the car looks good and has been rebuilt, it just has little things that bug the shit out of me. Simple things like heater blower is constantly on low even when its turned off, temp gauge not working due to wire not being connected, r/f seat mount bolt has pulled through the steel, radiator has a small/tiny split on the bottom tank, front brake shudder, etc etc
annnnd it smells like a bloody ashtray!

I am running 175/50/13's and the stretch isn't bad at all.
-
Shit I will have to get new wheels in that case! All my cars get lowered
-
She is gorgeous and I really can't believe my luck. It is a really surreal feeling!

Hello all, been a long while since I have had a car worthy of "oldschool" status but I have finally parked my arse in a cool little Esky.
HISTORY
She is a 1980 mk2 Escort 4 door and has had a rebuild carried out by The Surgery here in Wellys. The guy I got it from was the one that spent the time and coin on her and up until 2 weeks ago it was his pride and joy.
She has a rebuilt 1600 crossflow, 4 speed and tons of character!
All the body was stripped back, rust removed, paneled and painted in a sexy shade of black. The Interior has all been reupholstered too.
The not so good.
The previous owner was driving to work one morning a couple weeks back (risking it with no wof/no reg) and was rear ended by a 16 year old learner driver. No insurance. The damage done is bad but not terminal by any means.
Long story short, he was heartbroken, going through some major life changes and just wanted to scrap the esky.
I spoke to him and worked out a fantastic price and that evening I picked her up.
Pics, cos whats a build thread without them.

Hahahaha, didn't mean to drop ya in the shit
Looks so badass in person that I had to take a pic
-
Is this one yours? Saw it in Paremata this morning when I dropped my daughter at school
-
If you are going to go black on the bumpers to look like povo spec ones get some bumper paint. I used K&H stuff from repco on my AK and I am still stoked with the results.
Matty B is hard to keep looking good if you just use cans.
-
Damn your Shuttle is low!
I like it alot!
-
Its lowered on super low king springs out of my EF crx. It is uncaptive in the rear but its sweet in the front.
-
Here is how it sits now the rear is lowered, im pretty stoked with the result!
-
It turns out I like Shuttles cos I just bought another one. I got it for a good price, its EFI and my rusty old CRX is gonna be the doner vehicle.
It should be pretty sweet with the DOHC ZC.
I have spent a fair few hours cleaning inside and out, put front and rear strut braces in and the front lowering springs. With any luck i will chuck the rear ones in tomorrow.
It needs a new rear screen and a few other bits and pieces but I am stoked with the base I have to build from
-
Chucked on some Mugens
I like them more than the steelies which suprised me!
-
Oldschool stand looked pretty sweet, I got some pics but some turned out like shit so here are the ones that are ok.
Falcon was my favourite car of the day
-
Pretty sure I will actually make this meet
Looking forward to it as it will be the first OS meet I have been to.
-
Yeah the steelies are badass! I need 2 more 205/50/15's for the rear rims but its not a huge priority at the mo, I want to widen the steelies too and make them real purrdy and shit. I have 3 young kids and I am newly married so just have to wait until I can free up some coin to play with before too much happens.

I have been lurking here for a while and contemplating chucking a build thread up for my AK shuttle and seeing as there are a few shuttle builds I thought I might aswell.
She is a NZ new AK Shuttle, it was owned by the same dude from new until Feb 2011 when a mate of mine bought it and then sold it to me a few months later.
It is my daily driver/family wagon so nothing outrageous is going to take place for a little while and most of the stuff done will be budget build styles.
What is a build thread without some pics, this is what she looked like when I first got her.
I chucked the standard rear springs back in and wound the torsion bars back up to standard height for legal reasons
and then chucked my little black wheels on to see what she looked like
Bought a steering wheel for cheap as and I custom made my golfball gear knobEnter the love them or hate them Advans!
and probably one of my favourite features, the 3 piece option front lip (Y)
I had the great idea of scraping the red paint off my rear bumper....long tideous job! I also added a $3 exhaust tip
and painted
The front bumper
I slammed the shuttle back down to the height it was when I got it and chucked the Advans back on aswell.
I also acquired a woodgrain steering wheel
And here she is at the 2012 Bwarp grasspark wearing 15" steelies
Here are some pics that are floating around of Shannon at the Wellington Hardpark
Sorry about the mega photo dump, but this is how she is sitting at the moment. I have a few bits and pieces to do, RUST being a biggie, suprise suprise but for now she is just a family cruiser.

Saw this on HCW, loving this shuttle
I like the tri's but I think I may be a little biased based on this
This is my AK on Advans, I have got the center caps too.
-
Looking forward to seeing this dude! If you need a hand at all dont be shy to give me a buzz, grab my number from work.
-
