What exactly is the point of this law? All the shit it aims to stop is illegal already ie throwing bottles, loud exhausts, street racing, droping diesel, skids, abusing innocent people, unlawful gathering, drunk and disorderly have I missed anything???
Btw a skid pad would be good because then theres no excuse for doing illegal skids/ gives a place for people to go. Imo if cruising goes down skids will go up and vice versa.

Well tonight I went to start my escort (1.3 standard) and wouldnt start all dash lights ect where working but wouldnt even turn over. It just makes a single clunking noise when i turn key. I dont really know much about cars but am assuming the starter motors died so before i go buy another one is there anything else i should check?? thanks

These days Christchurch has gotta have over 10 different skate parks, and it's been over a decade since I saw any scare-mongering negative press regarding them. Problem (essentially) solved.
I do think if there was a place for us "boy racers" to go where you could go watch skids and look at other people
cars ect a shit load less would be on the aves/ at the skids Why would you drive around wasting petrol (and geting fines in if this law is passed) when you could legaly go and do it off the street where there would be no cops or old people getting shitty at you. Why dosnt the govt just build a place and be done with it then there would be no excuses if you did get busted doin skids or cruising

My understanding of the bylaw is that you can drive around as long as you want as long as your not impeding trafic or driving in a way that draws atention to the sound or power of your car. Eg you can drive the aves all night long as long as your not being a dick by reving your car out or driving slow.

Random/ retarded question i know but the other day i discovered that if my cars warm and in top gear if i put the choke on fully it idles nearly exactly on 50kph so question is can i kind of use this as a cruise control or will it break something?

i have a freshly rebuilt 1600 for sale on traders at the moment, its on there for what i paid for it to be rebuilt.

Save up to purchase a trouble free rebuilt 1600 i say ... cooler than a pinto and it will bacicly just be a case of swaping engines over from what you have now. lighter can get away with no cert and little modification required (if any?). Good to learn from too.
Thats what i think will be the easiest option ae there dosnt seem to be many /any on trade me though is it easyist to lok through reckers or what..

if your not doing it yourself find someone to do it for you and ask them how much it will cost. pick an engine in your budget and go from there. as for how much to get it road worthy.......how longs a piece of string. good to see youve got an interest in escorts start a topic in the project thread with some pics.

So im going to start saving to repower my escort because 1300 is slooow as
and i want to know how much everything will cost before i start. my question is what other engine options are there apart from pinto and 1600 xflow and what advantages/ disadvantages are there price power ect and how much it would cost.since i am mechanicaly nil i will have to pay some one to install engine/ engine & gear box anyway duno if this maters

In chch the skids get busted EVERY time cops just check every ones licence car and breath test driver takes 5-10mins for each car and if your at the back of a 30 car line it sucks to be you. Its done purely because its all cops can do its not illegal to watch skids.
