  1. May have missed it but are you moving the front eye up too?

Only reason I say is by moving the back spring eye mount only up you increase roll understeer which means the harder you corner (more body roll) the more in will understeer. Not ideal, but whether you have changed it enough to make it understeer a apprciable amount more than a stock 1200 I couldnt say.

  2. Cool thanks, I tried to make it as simple and strong as possible, Thinking I will go to Two bars, would probably bother me if I didnt. Will get some pics of the underside of the four link as soon as I get a chance. Hoping to chuck it up on the rotisserie to strengthen the four link mounting and seam weld the body. Want to add some gussets to the link brackets and tie the four link brackets to that lateral bar. Was a little bit of an after thought so just thinking of a good way to do it really. But yeah agree definitely want to make those brackets as strong as possible.

Things I would do different on 4 link

Make the body brackets 75-80mm wide. I made them 50mm which meant the boxes were a bit borderline for link bar clearance, going by how well you can cut and how short your panhard bar is. So the boxes ended up 80mm to give me more bar room and the brackets are only 50mm. Thats part of the reason I made the boxes 'T' shaped. Also means I can adjust the top and bottom bolts from underneath the car without help from a second person. Wasnt really an issue on mine as its a four door and probably could just reach through the back door if the bolt had to be adjusted from inside like a typical setup but it made it tidier because of the 50 to 80mm box to braacket difference.

Mount the coil overs on the top or front of the diff. This would have meant I could have mounted the cage to the rear strut towers. Because I mounted it to the back of the diff I couldnt because the cage isnt allowed to go past rear axle line. Fuck up on my part. Should have read the book better!

  3. Yeah a bit slutted really. $600 vs $1200 for a ALtezza vs S15. Would have been nice to run that. Hope I dont blow one up.

Not sure what the best route for close ratio goodness is. Dont really need a 6 speed as the 1st gear would be useless on the s15/altezza boxes with the final drive Im running anyway but there isnt really a lot of options for strong 5 speeds with easily available (prefereably cheap) close ratio kits for it

  4. Choice! Can't wait to see this thing in action... What's left on the list?

And the Aisin AZ6 thing is interesting eh? The S2000, Altezza, RX8 and S15 boxes are all made under that code but they're definitely not the same.

LEft on list.... Still quite a bit.

Mount pedal box and plumb everything

Sort Gearbox then mount sr20ve and new box - FWD VE had Different mounts to RWD SR20DE

    Get Fuel Cell Mount/plumb

Get wheels/semi slicks Mount flares to suit wheels.

Get link ECU Gauges etc and Wire

Rebuild Diff with My LSD - Mount Rear Brakes.

    Mount plumb Hyd handbrake.

    Lexan windows

    Air filter/plenum

    Exhaust inc Manifold

    Paint

Probably MIRRIONS of little jobs I have missed

as you can see there is a few expensive items left on the list. Aiming for 6 months time but it will just come down to money really.

  5. Started road car with occassional track use turned into Full race car. Has reg on hold so it would only be a cert and authority card away from street legal though.

Thanks, loving the fab work at the moment (up till the arc eye) its all cool stuff at the tail end of the fab work so its been pretty easy to stay motivated. Its pretty sweet looking at it all caged out, thinking shit yeah, I might actually get to drive this thing again!!

Only thing left is the bars through to Strut towers. and tags to A and B Pillar. Everything else is in and welded.

Wanted to do two bars to each strut tower but the lower bar on the door X where it meets the A pillar bar was such a Slut to weld. Thats how I ended up with Arc Eye. Trying to cram my Head in a small space to see where the gun is actually pointing!

Think I'll just do one upper bar through to the strut which will meet at the top of the door x

Is a second bar really that much benefit? I will persevere if its really beneficial. But it will be a slut.

  7. Cage is tantilisingly close to being finished, Was hoping to have it finsihed by the end of today but my arc eye got worse. It is gay, I dont recommend it to anyone!

Still have anohter week of holiday left so should be finished by the end of holidays. Should get the Pedal box mounted too. Which was the original holiday goal

Also had a wee set back. Was hoping to run an altezza box with some s15 6 speed bits to mate it to the sr, as the are the "same" box made by aisin. Turns out internally they are the same . The castings are slightly different enough to be a pain. I.E S15 bits mostly bolts up. So that needs to be sold and a new box sourced. Probably end up just saving up and getting a s15 6 speed, as thats probably the cheapest easiest way to get close ratios

  8. Rollcage is all but finished. Just got to go through the firewall to the strut towers and im done

.......... However I decided a good dose of arc eye was the order of the day so wont be doing any rollcage today!

Still hoping to get it finished up by the end of tomorrow. Hopefully ill get my wilwood pedal box mounted by end of the week too

So will smash up some pictures in the next couple of days

So stoked to see the cage in there. Finally starting to look like a race car instead of the primered shell that takes up space in my garage! It might even get finished one day!!

  9. missing a few pictures of late, reasonable amount of work done that isnt shown in pictures. Roll cage is progressing pretty well. Hoping tomorrow to drop the cage through the floor and weld the top. then will flip it back up and do door bars harness bar and strut bars, then it should be all finished ready for homogulation. Probably a good few days of solid work left in it though. Will get rouns to pictures shortly

  10. I sort of came to that conclusion too before I even did the CFD stuff, Was pretty much just fucking around with it to avoid work!

Was going to go for as big a plenum I could fit, which dont think will be huge due to space.

I CFD'd the dual plenum more out of curiosity as to whether it was worth it, but bit hard to get any meaningful results with the CFD I used.

^was just Floworks (may have name wrong) it came integrated with solidworks 2010, nothing flash. Basically demo mode, need to spend more money to get anything useful really.

  11. i had my sedan lowered something like 3 or 4 inches with leaves. Had the spring makers make flip them and rearched them the other way so they were about three inches lower, meant instead of being flat they still had some arch in them so they actually work as leave springs

  12. that trike ^, the massive castor angle, do people actually ride them?

like the bicycles everyone is currently building, they are terrible(awesome) to steer,

with only like half that angle.

    in summary, replicate that picture

You can make them steer fine, its all about setting up the trail. That said if you grabbed some front forks that came off a bike that originally had say 25deg of rake and leaned them out to say 30 or 35 or whatever the fck they run then yeah it will steer like shit

Also I vote two stroke for max lols.

  13. now the only hole in the thing is the gearshift hole. Stoked.

Doing roll cage currently but need to wait for my replacement tube notcher after my shitty chinese tube notcher fcked itself after 5 hours. Turns out in this case it paid off to get shitty at supplier, im getting a better quality replacement, still made in china but an american brand
