I got mine through Summit Racing, shit tons cheaper than anywhere else, cost me about 17USD each from memory for 3/4" Chromoly Teflon Lined QA1 Ones
-
Room on my floor and space for a trailer in the driveway when you decide to give it a go .
Well better get off my ass and finish it then!
Roman> *hopefully* updates should progress nicely, I have very nearly run out of things to weld so after that its really just plumbing/wiring/painting and spending money!
-
^^ What he said!
Get it finished and move to the north island please!
Actually used to live in Palmerston north till about 14, didnt get into motorsport till a couple of years later, have never even been out to manfeild
-
oh shucks, thanks guys
-
Pushed it out for a few photos. I pined a little
-
Yeah that ^
Driving a car is way more fun than fixing a car haha
-
cut your way in weld your way out.
Seriously though, Dont use acid, you'll never get it out of the seams and it'll just rust them out, best bet is probably one on the rust converters mentioned above and then get as much of something to seal it up in the as possible, like an epoxy primer or a wax or something.
Also those "odourless" Fish oils will make you car smell like fish for atleast a couple of years. They arent that odourless, atleast it did with the one my mates used in his 4wd
Like you said you can only do so much without taking the car apart so just do your best. Its better than nothing
-
Link Have released a ignition only computer but its probably a bit of overkill for what you want
-
yeah cool thanks
I ended up getting them
$72 US each for a 13x8 with a 3" backspacing.
They look well made, cnc spinformed rims so strong as shit with tight tolerances on run out. They weigh 6.3kg which isnt too bad. Thats marginally less than a 13x8 superlight.
They will do me fine till I get the car up and running and can afford to build up some proper 3 peice rims. Also means I wont need to run spacers or anything due to the shallow back spacing
1200s are so limited in back spacing, especially once you add coilovers

How much are you wanting to spend, I know a mate who is wanting to sell a s14 sr20de with loom ecu and box. Not sure what he wants for it but can find out
I'm not really sure. I'm willing to spend decent money on a good setup, however I don't have decent money at the moment, as I was made redundant not too long ago and haven't been able to find work again yet.
However, get your mate to give me a price and I can consider my options.
$800 plus shipping, its in chch. Seems to be about the going rate for a DE wth loom box and motor. I sold mine for $700 a while back.

wow 280mm disc under a 13" wheel is certainly impressive.
As most have said there shouldnt be any issues with a 260mm disc, it seems to be the norm
-
For those interested
I emails The TO at MSNZ and steels are legal provide they are manufactured by a professional outfit and the outer band isnt welded.
So something like the above are legal

DETs have oil squirters, lower comp, and roller rockers im sure. fwd and 4wd SRs have a totally different bellhousing meaning different block to rwd ones from what ive seen fwd and 4wd SRs cannot be converted either they also have a different head bolt pattern/ manifold bolt pattern.
Yup, RWD Block or nothing, unless your plan on running a non sr20 rwd box behind it with a adapted bell housing. Then it would just be the intake to contend with.
For ease just settle for a rwd one.

I have a set of wilwood 4 pots and 260mm rotors. Have only done a test fit, but I didnt see any issues with diameter. I had a issue with the outer pistons hitting the back of the wheel but datsuns have shallow backspacing on the hub. Will be able to confirm for sure in the next month or so

Was wondering if something like this is legal for circuit/club level stuff
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AEO-31-184530/
Was just curious really, havent really decided either way. will probably end up with 13x8 superlights cause they are cheap/easy/everywhere
They are quite cheap. Only $680 a set landed

Thats awesome, I just bought some second hand TRS front slicks for mine. Bout to head off this morning and order my 13x9s. Going to be good to get them on!
-
So not racing tomorrow then?
-
YEAH BOI!!!

I reckon vq or vk. The VK is pretty much a VQ with 2 extra cylinders. They are awesome, I think i've heard internet rumors that the vq 350z box bolts up to the vk as well,

A $20 fire extingusher can save thousands in damage. I hope no one was hurt, and that it was perhaps insured?
This can ran amazingly fast 1/4 mile times, considering it had rubber band stretched over the rim like tyres on it.
Ah that sucks, I actually did some work on this car way back in the day, pre turbo motor.
Out of interest what 1/4 mile times did it run

drove mates 156 v6 6 speed. Amazingly smooth engine. Revd out to limiter without any change in engine tone. It did have some weird electrical gremlin a few weeks after a few weeks of ownership where the immobiliser decided it wouldnt turn off so wouldnt start. But his first alfa 33 had a electrical fire on the way home from the dealers yard, so catching a bus home from dunedin cause his 156 didnt start didnt seem to phase him?!?
It did sound glorious though.
Cant comment on any of the others. But have always had a soft spot for the audis for some reason, despite never driving one ever
-
Agree with DJZ it would probably still be lighter than a cast aluminium one. Looks like KPR makes his out of 1.6/2mm. Hopefully he'll chime in and answer
-
Are you talking a manifold with a full plenum?
Dont see why not, KPR Made one for his 4age turbo im pretty sure. He also made ITB ones too
It will be heavier and may get a bit hotter after long sessions of hard driving, but probably unlikely itll get hot enough to cause any problems (unless you touch it).
The worse thing is the stainless wont absorb the vibrations as well as aluminium so it might sing a bit
-
haha fair enough

Id have thought 70mm ones would be sweet? whats the distance from trumpet to valve, what you revving too and whats the average length of your exhaust primaries?
