  1. How do i check my 4g52 valve timing I can see a mark on the camsprocket, should it point straight up and down with the front pulley on TDC? Cheers
  2. Ok i think im getting this now, measure the bottom two bolt holes to determine narrow or wide version, but double check the top measurements with whatever your buying cause they could be either 110mm or 130mm. Ahhh retrospect....
  3. Hey guys I am in middle of an engine swap ,l200 4wd,expired 4g52. Now the top 2 bellhousing bolts measured 130mm so wide bellhousing right? Well no,cause thinking that ive bought a motor but it wont go in. The top two are 130mm alright but the bottom 2 are 310mm. Anyone else ever happened on this? Cheers.
  4. Hey guys goin from carbed 4g52 to 4g62b efi. So im wondering whether to go with a suck blow carb turbo or try and find engine loom to suit injection(id rather stick with injection but limited budget) Any other tips and tricks RE; general setup? Thanks
  5. Plan is to just run it on the carby, To have a turbo petrol l200 ute is something just a little different and id be happy if it did a 30 second quarter mile ,i reckon ill put that engine to work in other ways. Nevertheless it,ll wish it was never born..
  6. Firstly thankyou to all the helpful people and advice regarding my old 81 4x4 l200,and which engine to put into it. Turns out the old original 4 speed g/box needed a wide bellhousing engine, after a bit of searching i located a 4g62b(blairs)in Chch. The guy went out of his way to find something for me and give me a sharp price to. The engine should arrive tommorrow and when it does ill be straight into it,this post is to keep mitsi enthusiasts informed and to keep anyone that helped in the loop. By all accounts it sounds relatively straight forward, being an 1800 turbo im not sure how much more powerful itll be regarding certification and im not concerned either, cross that bridge when i get to it. Ill try and get some pics up when its done
  7. Have found a couple in late model chariots,im surmising they are fwd, guess the jurys out on that one..
  8. Ok Guys from what i can see with the engine still mounted the top bellhousing bolts are 130ish mm apart and the bottom (threads facing inward toward centre)330ish. Does that sound like the wide version gearbox 2 you all? If that doesnt make sense ill have a better look when im off work(dark when i go and dark when i return at the mo)
  9. Yip you got it,opinions are many and varied, once ive got the motor out ill measure it up. Between dirtbikes and cars theres more than enough to do on any given day(off). Your shitten me the fwd bolt in??Well once i find the right one anyway. Your a helpful lot, Thered be a box of beer in this if anyone lived in the same town, Because we all know how shipping prices are these days..
  10. AAhhh now i get the Fuel Phil bit. Encyclopedia? O goody.. Cheers
  11. Wow thats nice to get some information, awesome. Yes its still the 4 speeder. So your saying the 4g52 2 wheel with 4 wheel sump will do the trick? Or 4g54 with standard sump(i found one of them to,but at a price). The other option is to change the engine and gearbox to 2wd 5 speed but ill rather have the 4wd running. Any one else shed some light? Thanks again!!
  12. HI Guys, love the site. I have aquired a nice tidy 81 l200 4x4 with a shagged 4g52. So im trying to find out what will bolt onto this gearbox, engine wise. Will a 2wd 4g52 fit?(yes i have managed to find one),woohoo. Any Ideas? Thanks!
