exhaust wont be listed on the cert plate, unless theres a structural mod to fit it.
probably wont have been certed for the exhaust, as lance doesnt like doing it, he gets me to do a few of his noise test ones, plus you would have been charged more for it ($200-$250)
Yeah, thought it unlikely. It's not that it's rowdy just it has a hideous drone to it and 'cause it's quite short there's not a lot of room for another muffler.

If it has been noise tested you can't change it, otherwise you will be fine.
Hasn't as far as I know, only emissions tested.

Does anyone know how long the TAC usually takes to get back to ya re Design Approval?
Update to this.
D.A. arrived in post last weekend (a week ago), I managed to badger Justin at LVVTA into calling me the week before and he called Lance to tell him to continue the process that evening. yay.
Cert plate has been ordered, final inspection when it arrives presumably. Then legal beagle.
Clint, will the side exhaust be listed on the cert? Was a less than ideal move and would quite like to change it back to a rear exit.

westy- you rang me a while back about the bmw with the front end changed around?
if thats the case the design approval will be for non oe front end geometry- a front suspension with changed pickup points/geometry etc has to be approved by tac.
so did you take it for a cert inspection and the certifier asked you to get design approval, or did the car pass and the certifier sent the paperwork through and it got picked up then?
Yeah, that's the one. Thing is, it is OE front end geometry from the e46, the two cars share a surprisingly similar setout. No custom or one-off parts. I'd have thought the rear would have been more of a concern, but anyway. Maybe i didn't quite explain things well enough?
As I understand it, Lance either contacted them about it or preempted the Design Approval. He also suggested the Car-o-liner report and has completed the paperwork on my behalf. Spoke to him yesterday and found out that the confirmation will be sent to me, not him, hence the question of time.
By all accounts there's no problem with it, save a couple of minor notes on the rectification form. Just have wait. One thing I'm not much good at.

How does the brace sit with those funny bumps on the strut tops? Just crank it down?
PS nice bits!

Still sorta early days. I am an impatient bugger.
Worse case, I guess I just present it for rectification a day before time runs out which buys me another two months (?).

This is me ha
Project start
Fab ect
Project complete
Apply for cert
Spring a design approval on me (everything I've read suggests this is voluntary)

Yeah, so normally you apply for Design Approval at the start of a project as a separate thing from the final cert process. (The two months starts from the start of the final cert process?)
They've had me do an approval after I have applied for the cert, during the two month period. Make any sense?
-
Was supposedly accepted last meeting (Tuesday last week?) just waiting on confirmation so I can continue with the process.
Apparently I only have 2 months before I have to pay for another process and this is eating into that time somewhat.

Also, thinking about sticking a low blow turbo on it. Something to make around 350 fly-horses.
Anyone with any great ideas re std equipment turbos that might fit the bill? Evo or similar? Cause cheep-cheep. -
So, boredom setting in waiting for the slow wheels of bureaucracy to move led me to construct this fake splitter from a piece of ply and a strip of stainless I had lying around ha.
All ready for quick self removal at the first glance of a curb...- 6

For repair certs? dont know to be honest, not my area of knowing stuff. we dont have to deal with those
Nah mod cert. Lance is gonna try and find out. Tis a pain in the arse tbh.

Whats the story with Car-o-liner reports? Have to be computerisededed?

Pfft wedding anniversary happens every year!
Indeed they do. Have made arrangements, will attend.

Good work, keep going.

Meh, turns out it's a wedding anniversary Sunday. That's me out.
-
Righto, will attempt to make this in E30.
Much police attention involved?
-
Damn. Mighty pissed off with self.
Thanks.

So, I just fitted some driveshaft loops, and I think I cocked it up royally.
It's a two piece shaft and I've used 32x6 instead of 50x5 (don't ask why I had those numbers in my head, I've no idea).
Is there any lee-way in this at all, considering they are only little short shafts? Please say yes.
-
You are, of course, all completely wrong.
Carry on.
