Does anyone know if "Renown Triumph" still exists in Christchurch? Contact details from an older NZ Classic Car magazine - 19 Maldon Street, Christchurch. Ph: 03 379 6454
Can't find anything on the web...
Yeah I've heard of them before but I don't think they're around anymore. You could try calling Darryl at Economy Auto's (he's a triumph guy) 03 366 2231, if they're still in business he'll know, if not he might have the bits you're after
I don't need any bits at the moment, but thanx for the info, could come in useful in the future!
Good to hear Collet and Fleming are still going, albeit under a different name!

What I can remember offhand and roughly the order I owned them...
1965(?) Vauxhall Victor 101
1968(?) Triumph 2000 MKI
1968 Valiant VE
Various Triumph 2000/2500 MKII including another MKI
1981 Datsun Sunny stationwagon
1979 Toyota Corona
1973 Mitsubishi GTO
1970 Transit Van with Granada V6
Datsun 120Y stationwagon
1978 Transit duel wheel truck with boxbody and 4.1 falcon crossflow fitted since new. Lived in this for a few years, all decked out with solar power/invertor and towed 1961 caravan as bedroom.
1978 Triumph 3500 V8 (current)
1991 Toyota Corolla (current daily driver)
I think that's about all of them...
Motorbikes -
1981 Yamaha IT175H
1982 DR250Z (x2) Had a good crash into the side of a newly painted customised MKIII Zephyr.
19Godknows) Suzuki stepthrough thing
1981 Honda XL500s (great mono machine)
1981 Honda CR250RB (first of the watercooled/prolinks, never seen one since), I dragged off two cop cars with this. After getting away from them I went flying offroad, round a bend and straight into the bullbars of some Jeep thing! Bike was fucked, I was okay, flew right over the Jeep and landed behind it, a bit winded! Also had the throttle jammed once while doing about 100kph on the back wheel! Was sitting on the ground before I knew it...
1984 Honda XR200RE (The dreaded twin carb model, though mine was sweet as and went really good, would've easily left the DR's behind I should think).
1980 Honda CB400N (I still have this)
2005 Honda XR250 Tornado
2008 Suzuki GS500

Fuck, I played a gig there once, back in about the mid 90's or so! The place was all shut up back then, well before some of it became a backpackers! I went for a good explore around the place, went into some of the buildings I could get into! Never made my way into the building with the cars in it though, I didn't know they were there! Maybe they weren't there then, I dunno! I heard the whole place was sold for about $20,000 back in the late eighties or something like that...

Bit of an old thread, but I remember seeing a Mark IV/V Cortina two door advert or article in a magazine back in the day... this particular car was German, badged as a Taunus and had the 2.3L V6.

It was suggested that I post photos of my Triumph in here, so here it is...
I bought my Triumph the way it is and haven't done anything else to it yet! As far as I can tell, from receipts etc, the conversion was originally completed in about 1991, so it's had the V8 in it for more of its life than it had the original six! There's some basic specs below the photos...
Model: 1978 Triumph 3500 V8 Saloon Mk2 (registered as a 3500).
Engine: Rover 3500 V8 with Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 390 carburetor, electronic ignition and electric fuel pump.
Exhaust: Extractors with twin 2" exhaust system.
Cooling: Twin electric fans.
Transmission: Borg Warner Type 65 three speed automatic transmission.
Suspension: Front - stock with heavy duty springs. Rear - stock with gas shocks.
Rear End: Holden 3.08 in modified original diff housing with Nissan half shafts.
Brakes: Original.
Wheels/Tires: 14x6 Performance aluminum 8-spoke wheels with Bridgestone 185 tires.
Interior: Speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, coolant temperture, oil pressure and volts.
Body: Front spoiler, 3500 V8 badge on grill, 3500 MkII badge at back of car and V8 badges on rear pillars.
Completed: Has been a V8 since about 1991.

Nice looking GT. Fun cars, I have 1970 GT with Toyota 5 speed. And you can still buy everything brand new for them.
