no good call, another task to do when i check the front brakes. yeh so far I only played with the rear, because front brakes works perfectly. actually they all working, is just i need to put my foot right down.

if all above fails. i will go to mechanic. if the fluid level is good, and cant see any leaks around the master clyinder , then it is not likely to be worn right?

yeh, I have bled the front brakes before placing the cylinder, only bled the rear brakes after i replacing the clyinder. I was going to bleed the front brakes again tomorrow, and check everything for leaks, ie. all the lines.

replacing the wheel cylinder, made sure all brakes working, just not as good~!

I think I have solved all the problems, now all brakes working, front wheels lock under heavy braking. Rear brake also works when the pedal is pushed to the floor and I try to use a T bar to turn the rear wheel, and it locks. so any suggestions the reason why i need to push the padel to the floor to operate? Thanks guys in advance.

ture I should try that, but i am pretty sure it works, as it is new and we bled well.

Hi guys , some of you probably know I have a e21 bmw, and the rear LEFT brake doesn't work. First thought was slave cylinder doesn't work, which I bought a new one to fit in, bled, and it still doesn't work. Also the hand brake on the LEFT side is loosen, i actually pulled some out, can't push it back it again >< any suggestions ? Got a e30 325i lying around as a wreck, saw the rear brakes were disc. so I thought I could use them if they could fit. I belive it is probably going to be more time consuming to change just the cylinder than replacing the entire rear brake system.

haha,low springs, no offense, but will give me a bad look. yeh, I am thinking to slowly upgrade the suspsension then. just a thought, would be possible to upgrade the rear brakes to disc brakes?

Hello again guys. Starting a new topic for the e21 ask about my brakes and suspension. Ok, Brakes, The Brakes is not very responsive,not that is that bad, but I can feel it is not as good as many cars I have, or had before, and feels like the brake pads shoes etc is on the way out. My mate(mechanic) helped me to check/bleed the brakes. We found all pads/shoes are just good as new. BUT, LEFT rear Drum brake DOESN't have both foot brake and Hand brake. slave cyliner Couldn't bleed, I we can't see any liquid come out. We tried to bleed the line directly, yeh the line was ok. So DO I need to replace the Slave cylinder on the drum brake? It doesn't leak or anything. Suspension, My mate told me my suspension is perfectly fine, no leaks, and he try the push the car down, it went to completely stop as normal. But I still feel the suspension is very soft compare to other bmws. It could very likely to be the shxt broken old drive seat tho...... any suggestions??

Ok ,there's many small faults with this car, mainly electrics. i.e, the dashboard lights, don't turn on often, only seen it on once/twice. What do i do with that? there is more, brakes suspensions etc. will find the real problem first then ask.

yeh, I should know, been an engineer myself, I think Caustic solution makes the heat capacity changes by a lot. Well, I'm expecting it is at 50% dead or slightly lower. Just never had a car over heats slightly. on high way it hits 1/2 mark dead. I think as long as I'm driving the car, the temp should be sweet, I know this because I DROVE it up from CHCH to AKL. Hmm, maybe I should take it for another deep hill test.

haha, harbour bridge isn't good enough then? anyways, do you know why it is still slightly over heat? not enough flushing? by the way, i tried some of you guys flushing solutions, I put washing powder into the cooling system, filled with water, drive!! Overheats! and nearly killed the car!!

OK, I replaced the thermostat, Kind of flashed the system with pouring the water in(don't have garden hose). Filled with new coolant. IT has IMproved a LOT, but The temperature guage still shows slightly more than half, 55%-60%. hmmm,, more suggestions?

mint! cheap as. the car rides like a boat, Needs new suspension. Do you know if the e30 suspension will fit?

There is no air con..... and I noticed the fan was constantly on any way drive by the engine. Do you think my head gaskit is blown? well I drove over 1000kms from chch to akl without issue.

Ok, I recently bought a bmw 316 e21. I drove from CHCH to AKL. All sweet apart from not much brakes and handles like a boat. Anyways. The temperture gauge goes to upto 3/4 in town and bit more than half on high way. it never overheated tho. Even at steep hills etc. water is full, there is NO Coolant in it. so what is the problem?
