Shit yeah, this is rad.
I notice the little NZTA sticker on the front screen, did it get flagged for anything too unsavoury?
lol you know, just rust everywhere. As expected

She's here! I was able to drive it from the port to storage which was sweet! Smelly, rusty, hot, no power steering, no power windows, average brakes, overall very awesome. Makes all the right noises, especially driving it through the city.
She's a big job so I won't be starting repair until next year when I'm back from overseas in February, for now, stoked! Oh, and bonus the front under lip turned out to be carbon, thought it was just FRP!

Cool! Yes there's I think about 3 or 4 genuine GT-Rs floating around Europe now so that's pretty cool.

lol oh man that car looked tidy as. My car is doomed when it gets here LOL
-
I can't tell you not to repaint it red, but that silver colour is so beautiful, maybe just paint the watanabes (?) wheel caps to red, and the r of the gt-r logo
No GT-R logo going on here my friend. It's not a GT-R or a clone so won't put it on 2000GT life!

OK sorry for more spam but Shane just sent over some more close up images with various repair stuff which is good and thorough. Engine had a strange miss which turned out to be a bung plug, replaced that with some random one and it worked. Compression appears to be a little low on one cylinder but the car still seems to run relatively well so when I get it I'll do plugs/leads/dizzy cap etc anyway as a precaution. Shane also has some MDI spark booster thing (you know those boxes you always see on old Jap cars to boost the spark) so he'll throw that in too.
A few more pics..
Powerhouse! I'm actually happy that the numbers match on this and the body.. otherwise that could be a bit of a problem come time for VIN etc.
Angry face!
Interior is overall very clean, will need new centre console as that one looks banged up and not correct for the car (more holes for buttons and switches than my povo one has). Plus side, less things to go wrong in mine right?
But this really got me excited.. https://vid.me/fhmd
Annd they reckon we should have a booking for shipping next week so that's pretty exciting.

Love the car, heaps jealous!
Being a crown piner I have to ask about the one in the background, is that making its way to NZ as well?
Cheers
Matt
That Crown was being worked on by Shane at Stacked for a domestic customer who wanted it delivered to where my car was being collected from. Not going to NZ, sorry!

Ash, I just moved that post. Please don't post in the project threads, that's what the discussion thread is for.
That way when you're looking up someone's sweet, sweet whip you only see goodness and don't have to wade through 50 pages of "Good work!" to actually see the good work.
Coooooool bananas
Makes sense, I did wonder why it was split.

For Swifts it's no benefit to look at importing just buy locally

Nice, I used Captain Transporter before, rubbish communication.

So is this still in Japan at the moment?
Yes it's still in Japan currently
-
Yeah for sure the rego thing might not be watertight but it's interesting nonetheless

For my curiosity I had NZTA check if there were any current registrations of GC10/KGC10 (didn't ask them about KPG or PG because no chance to be GT-R here I'm sure..). Looks like there are none.

That was only on Trademe for a short time then gone.. so I imagine sold quickly.

Grey one in welly is owned by Clive, rb20det powered and came from Oz. It's a c110 hardtop not c10.
I have owned 3 x c110s. 2xhardtop and 1xsedan (subsequently heavily modified into dark grey one)
Sold my best one for a mint as a rolling shell. It's moved to gizzy with a ton of other members old dattos including Aaron's Gloria and the c110 sedan.
Prices of old skylines have skyrocketed.
C10 never sold here, only ones are private import.
Limited c110 came in as special dealer order only and not many came because 240z was similar price but more widely liked.
So awesome, well done
Yeah it's a shame that one has RB in it but what can you do. The dude loves it either way. Was that sedan 110 that was for sale recently yours? Was dark grey etc

Definitely more 110's as they were more widely exported, the larger quotient of C10 Exports went to Europe (think Norway/Finland). Most (not all) the ones that ended up in other countries outside of Europe were servicemen returning from Japan to their home country and taking one with them back then. I recall a guy on CZCC had one in the states back in the 70's/80's and he got rear ended and obviously that fucked it, completely uneconomical to repair as impossible to get parts locally then.
I have a 110 hardtop. A friend of mine down here used to have one too, he sold it to Aaron so Aaron had a C10 and a C110 at one point, think he sold the C110 though. There's a couple more guys on here with them that don't tend to talk a lot I would say there has been 6-8 110 hardtops on here over the past 10 years or so and a couple of sedans. I've owned my 110 for 12 years or so now and had spent a few years before I got it, keeping an eye out.
In europe you can get LHD versions of C10 as well, I did not know that until a couple years ago
-
If that was Reuben, that one he tried to buy is a kenmeri coupe.
Yeah fuckin Rubbin, he showed me the RB powered C110 owned by some old dude but he said another as well.. but it's Rubbin he could be talking shit like usual

With a sunny day like today I thought it high time I got cracking on with some easy stuff. Plugs and leads is something even I can do.. of course needed a bit of coffee to get the brain working.
Yipes, this coil's seen some shit. Lucky I have another on the way.
In typical Japanese fashion the engine bay is super dirty. I forgot to take an after but the bonnet is now significantly less lubricated.
Installed new NGK leads and plugs. The lead to the coil was a bit long as you can see, just cable tied it out of the way of the radiator fan more than anything.
I love how the leads are numbered for idiots like me!
One of these things is not like the other haha. Who's good at reading plugs? How does it look?
After I changed the plugs/leads it was running like a bag of dicks missing and shit so I took off the dizzy cap and the points were super corroded. Bit of sandpaper and it runs mean now but I've got another cap due to arrive any day now anyway.
Also took a quick vid on Instagram, so much excitement and noise to get to speed limit. It's a real event!

Tbh I'm just beaming cause I did a thing and it made a difference
