It's hard to look at those pics bro!!
I was so amped when I first saw this ride, covered in dust and crap, then once it was all up and running I was pretty impressed.
Just need to fix it up better than before!!

Pretty dam sweet Merc on my way back to work after lunch.
Ultra straight body and paint looked flawless.
Very sweetly slammed too.
Not so keen on the wire wheels but it pulls them off better than most cars..
My mate has such a similar plate, had to look twice [MERC69]

Look forward to reading/seeing more!

That looks like a bit of a challenge!! Tons of these around though, shouldn't be too hard to find parts.
-
I seem to remember the rims being from a Ford Mondeo or similar?
Could also get rims from one of those weird Citroen van things, like KK did for his BX..
-
I remember that car when it showed up on Speedhunters I was all "WTF" then all *drool*. A more tidy/non rat one would be so mean, I wouldn't think there are many of these in the country?

Fuck this is cool!!
What's the plans for this? Enjoy as is, or restore to original condition??
Looks to be in fairly good nick for something off that road that long.
-
Saw that the other day parked in town, so lovely!!

Load.
Blown.

Having problems with my FA50.. Goes, and can ride it, gets fast enough for me, but as soon as I stop, it cuts out. Like won't idle, have to sit there revving it or it dies..
Any ideas?

Looks like a nice start to the build!! Be interested to see what else you have done

For the Cube Luke???

Hmmm might get this as a early Christmas present for myself - current deal is 40% off, so 53.50(pounds), which works out to about $110, or $8.50 an issue!!
-
Just keep pestering your mate until it becomes worthwhile!!
I guess the calculation would be:
Cost of a WOF'd/Reg one - Cost of getting mates one up to scratch = how much it's worth paying your mate.
-
That's the other point, you'd need to cert it which is $500, plus you'd want to do suspension at the same time, I reckon you'd be looking at over 3K easy. Depending on what kinda nick the Hunter was in you might need to fix up some rust, then paint on top of that.
Might be worth buying the Toyota and putting the motor aside, could probably make most of the money back selling parts - seats etc, and then the shell to the scrappies.

No meet for me again this time Luke - flying to China on the Tuesday!! Will be back in time for the next (November) one so will punt the Shitroen out and say hello!
-
Congrats mate, been following this build with special interest. ReaL unique that motor in that car, all very nicely done

Engine stop smoke is just real thick oil isn't it?? Again, if your engine is smoking and you put thicker oil in, not gonna fix the problem, just might get it thru it's next WOF
would most old cars use 20-50 oil? factory says use 10-30 or 15-40.
I just 20-50 in all my shitboxes too, mainly cos you can get it for $20 for a 4 litre at the Warehouse!!

Yeah I usually go along but my aunty arrived from China yesterday so was otherwise engaged. Next month I will be in China myself so will miss two in a row
-
So this means it's not being sold?? Good news, I can admire the amount of time and effort put into this car, and would be great to see it at its former glory
-
This is exactly what Oldschool is all about. Buying the cars that no one believes are saveable and then trying to save them! I wish you all the best of luck...reckon you might need it haha!
-
Haha should get something awesome made up for a starter, like attach an umbrella handle to it, so ppl are all WTF when you go to start it..

Hey Luke
I has the same problem, and I was told that basically some scooters run like a bag of dicks without their airboxes, and those mini pod filters actually decrease performance. I only have half my airbox so gonna try use tape and magic to make one, perhaps your scooter is similar?

Fuck.. That is so awesome! One vote from me for not ratting it, and just keeping it standard/restoring it to some degree.
