  1. I only had one copy of mine, took 10 photocopies to a family friend who is a Justice of the Peace. Got him to stamp and sign the back so they are now all official copies. Have one copy in the car and 10 laminated spares.

  2. Just saw the new supercheap mailer and saw the 50% off 3m paint range, im guessing they are bringing in a new range?

    Has anyone used this for painting a complete car? Im about a year away from painting, how long does it keep?

    Am I Best to wait or grab the lot now and store it? And approx how much paint would be needed for a mk1 escort 2 door?

  3. So i Have the trike all sorted for a WOF test tomorrow, but i get it out on the road for a rip down the street and back, but at 1/3 throttle while under load it coughs and splutters and blows chuffs of black smoke.

    I have tried playing with a few tihngs but cannot get it running right.

    Its a 75ish 1300 aircooled beetle motor. has new plugs, points and leads. it runs allright at idle and at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle but any higher then that and it starts spluttering. timing has been reset. the autochoke has been disconnected and the choke tightened up so its about 1/3 open. when engines warm i have tried to move the choke but any movement either way makes it die. it was like this when i got it. I have tried adjusting the mixture screw but this does not change it.

    Can anyone shed any light on this?

  4. just fitted the new exhaust, leads,plugs and new points.

    Still runs like shit, going to try to get it to the mechanics down the road and see what they think

    Have got the speedo and cable for it from a previous owner. Front end is off a suzuki 750 of some variety. The speedo cable is not long enough to mount in the usual spot so I am getting a bracket made so i can mount it in a different spot off the front fork just above the indicators.

    Does anyone have hookups for carb kits? Ripco just quoted me $150 incl gst for one.

  5. yea im still not sure on the seat, its a little uncomfortable as it was built for a short ass and im 5,8. back seat is as comfy as a lazyboy.

    The headlights are just some spotlights i pinched off a mates van. Priced up a custom style single unit on trade me but trying not to spend too much money on it untill i know if I love it or hate it

    Its a 1987 volkswagon homebuilt trike. its a 1300 aircooled with 4 speed manual. My old man brought it to do up as he couldnt ride bikes anymore due to a stuffed elbow, which is now fine and hes brought a harley so I have been given this.

    When I got it there were alot of things to sort, but have since replaced master and wheel cylinders,repaired loom, fitted crappy headlights, indicators and a new exhaust as the one on there was full of holes.

    Its registered as a car so I can drive it on a car licence

    I have met the original builder of it and apparently it was named the weta when he had it. Its been through allot of hands since then so there are allot of rangi mods that need sorting.

    Plan is get it legal and play with it and see if its my cup of cake or not. I need to sort the last few things pretty smartly as the wife and I are having our first kid in a month. All i need to do is sort a speedo and get it running properly. has new leads and just fitted new points. Volkswagon is a new language to me. Will keep posting updates as things happen

  7. A few months ago I was given a VW engined beast that is not too far away from being on the road (which is when the thread with pictures will be put up). Its a 1300 aircooled. I have just pulled the carb apart for a good clean as it was leaking (still is, any one got hookups for carb kits?)

    and now it is running barely but has a very different symptom.

    It seems to be running on all 4 but the exhaust manifold on the left does not get hot, while the right gets to normal temprature. everything seems to be firing correctly and they are all sparking.

    this has me stumped.

    its not running at low revs and when running at half throttle sounds like its running normally apart from a hole in the exhaust.

    Any one have any ideas?

    oh yea its also missing one wheel

  8. I am slowly getting back into the escort, the body is going to take a while as I am still learning to weld, but i have the doors and boot lid finished, am i best to primer them and leave for another year, or paint them now? If im best tp paint it now what paint should i use?
