  1. Well the weather was semi ok on weekend so have fitted suspension lift. No dramas really, just seized on bolts etc. Lifted the back about 75mm, front about 50mm. Also removed swaybar. These springs actually feel softer than the old ones, but wait till it gets offroad to decide if i need to remove leaves. Have also tidied up the surface rust spots (most of them anyway). Next mission is some good offset rims and mud tyes........
  2. Any one know standard valve sizes for 1600 Xflow (valve face diameter and length)? Google has failed me and my manual is missing a few pages.
  3. yeah, sounds like a plan later down the track. How did you find the maxitracs? stiff/flexible?
  4. Have decided to go with 4 new maxitrac leafs and budget ass monroe shocks. Shocks needed were hq holden in the front, liteace rears. This should be a two inch lift with more flex. Total cost $730 all brand new crap, 4wdbits dude quotes like $1600+ for similar stuff but branded EFS. Probably a slight quality difference but not worth over double the price in my opinion Hopefully install this weekend if weather is sweet as. Also got radiator recored last week, seems to have solved water usage problem, hopefully don't have to pop head off for testing. If anyone knows where i can et a indicator lense cheap/free let me know man, i think it will be my only pickup for warrant.
  5. yeah thats what i keep hearing, but i also have driven 4wd with locked front diff and it can make steering difficult, And the suzi has no power steering. Sweet though the front and rear diffs are identical so can swap them around and see what works better. I too have wanted one for a while, make into hopefully cheap road legal off roader.
  6. Thought i may as well make a thread for this, seeing as I havenever made one for escort. Picked up cheap SJ on weekend, wof/reg almost run out so that is first mish. Sick of using IFS isuzu and breaking it. Leaf springs all round = win. plans are 2" suspension lift, locker in rear, 29" or 30" mud tyres, and sort all the rust patches out. Chassis is surprisingly solid. If anyone knows any hidden rust traps or small faults that are common to these let me know cos I know FA about these. And this is what its replacing. ISUZU is for sale.......
  7. yeah i am hoping to be able to get 175 50 a539's. fingers crossed, i will try 215's on front though hopefully no rub
  8. hey does anyone know if its possible to get 195 50 r13's? or 185 or 205? i found some 215 50 r13's for the back but kinda want a skinnier tyre on the front (rub etc.). also is 275 bucks a good price for a pair of 215 50 r13's? i thought it was but if someone know better cheaper place i am keen to hear about it. also...... have come into money wanna get small flares on my guards before panel+paint anyone recommend a place in auckland?
  9. suck through so it sucks cold air from outside engine bay through radiator, not blowing hot engine bay air onto your rad. this only applies if fan is mounted behind radiator. [EDIT just realised its a engine mounted fan. disregard last sentence above]
  10. Hey yeah man twin webber 40's, i'm the opposite i have always liked carbs, but put injection on a 4k over the summer and was surprised at the drivability out of a previously temperamental engine. This falcon injection setup is very primitive, and you're right it will be a mission to set it up right. I'm gonna tinker away on it over the next couple of weeks and see what I can acheive. Your not alone in telling me to stick with carbs haha
  11. Just checked out your tina man fucken sweet
  12. yeah Im still considering that one, probably will try and use falcon efi controller but limit the signal from the TPS to the ECU with some kind of potentiometer. Going to put it together on test bed at work and check output pulse. If the falcon one is too messy to use I might give up and keep the sidedraughts. I'm just playing around with it at the moment, ta for your thoughts man
  13. Cheers chap, at least I know its possible now, was that with standard CFI controller? I might have to ask him for wiring diagram.......
  14. Hey just wondering anyone out there ever injected their 1600 crossflow using falcon CFI (throttle body style)? Or similar? I was told it's reasonably simple, and as i have both these items i'm just thinking................? It basically fits on the weber manifold with small amount of slotting. I'm new to this site, been checking it for ages but never had a reason to sign up till now. p.s I don't need anyone posting telling me to just put a pinto in it, I will do what i want with my escort, you do what you want with yours
