YAY my bits have arrived!
-
thanks ill look into that
-
lol yea well im pretty sure i put my seal in properly so i reckon in just the high rpm with my lumpy cam that has made is seap oil...
-
Oh i might be able to arrange that whats ya cell zac ill txt u when i find out
-
so anyway ive orderded one of these
"These are a top quality seal designed with high revs and temperatures in mind....made from better material and a better design...its the one nearest on the photo...when using higher engine revs temperatures tend to increase and a standard seal can begin to weep oil....so if you do any type of motorsport or run a turbo, fast road or track day car this is the seal for your engine... Fitting all Mini clutches from 1959 to 2001...apart from the automatic and very early thin-tail cranks which were fazed out by 1961....this is seal which sits behind the flywheel...it keeps oil off the clutch...if you can wet your fingers with oil from the giggle pin or hole in the bottom of the flywheel housing, or anywhere on the clutch / inside the flywheel, you need a new one.....should always be renewed when rebuilding your engine/gearbox or clutch....... These fit the early type and the verto type clutch.....
We also list the plastic protector for the back of this........
They measure some 0.030" smaller internal diameter than a standard type, this will give a better seal."
so should be good
-
Well i firgured what caused my clutch to stop working, wasnt actually the drift / power slide which caused it...
or
iIo2T61p-VA
could anyone tell by the oil everywere?
-
Looks as if i broke the mounting for my front engine steady, lucky i got the hook up
Mmm look at that laser cut, 3MM stainless goodness

-
oh i so want one of these http://www.carbonweezel.co.uk/road_bonnets.html
if only i had $550 pound ex shipping to waste
-
Oh shoot i popped my clutch in the weekend atleast i though i had haha, thats what happens when u a little *cough* tipsy and try do a handbreaky / power drift round a corner to show off to ppl at the pub close by
Anyway.. i ordered a new 30% Preformance uprated pressure plate and mated 190mm organic clutch plate today so am looking forward to recieving / fitting them
Does anyone else here have a mini with a verto clutch system like mine does ?
Also am considering getting my flywheel lightned and balanced before i put it back on..
Oh and also maybe a Alloy radiator with electronic thermo controlled fan system instead of the power draining useless engine powered fan..
What you'll think?

Hi there,
here is my rebuild of My 1980 Clubman 1275GT Mini
here is what it looked like before the rebuild
Since then have removed the engine that was in it and replaced it with the engine out of a 1987 Austin Metro mayfair. this is the engine before reconditioning
Since then i have fully rebuilt this engine, started by disassembling and inspecting everything, decided to rebore the block to .30" and have it acid dipped. After that i brought some Mehle pistons to go with new rebore.
this photo is after i painted the block with VHT engine enamel and fitted the new pistons, as you will notice later on also replaced frost plugs and oil bungs. You will also notice that i have replaced the oil pump and water pump
I also had the head crack tested and planed, aswell as $500 worth of other work (bronze valve guides, unleaded seats) also spent many hours grinding head to david vizard spec's (bare in mind it was my first go at all this)
as you will also notice i have respayed the head with 1000 degree thermal paint.
Have had the cam that came with the metro engine reground by kelford cams with a fast road grind
here is a photo with the head now on the block
after this i have rebuilt the gearbox and differential replacing all bearings and seals aswell as new baulk rings. Also have replaced factory differential with a minisport crosspin diff
Here is a photo with my 1.5 ratio roller rockers showing
i now have the engine complete have just gone and spent alot of money on some nice ignition components
just waiting for the mini to get back from the painters and will be ready to put the engine in.
Update 08/09
its painted!! about time lol.. just gotta wait till they put the glass back in it etc then pick it up friday
Have recieved mini back from painter! at long last
have removed the drive shafts and replaced the CV's also waiting for another box of parts from UK
Getting new inner hubs, negative camber kit + adjustable tie rods and new poly bump stops and suspention bushes aswell as some new rack boots cos they poked too.
here are some photos
4 Pot Metro calipers all rebuilt with new pistons and seals and new vented discs
New CV's, stripped down the wiper motor cleaned and regreased internals and respray.
new 70amp alternator .. looking good...
Got new tires for my freshly painted rims, Falken 165/60R12 ZIEX ZE912's
here is a list of all the performance parts on this engine.
+30 pistons from MEHLE
Roller-master double row vernier timing chain
1.5 ratio roller rockers
Head skimmed and worked.
Custom Kelford cam F10 intake F26EX\7.5 Application: Fast road

thanks! , i would hope within a month defanantly within two! the last parts i have to order is the new clutch system (verto hydraulic) hoping to have the car painted and back to me within two weeks
so will be a matter of getting those parts fitting my new engine and brakes and then refitting all the shit i taken off
-
Progress update!
ready for painting
-
so you convinced me i ended up getting the minisport crosspin diff, fitted it up today gearbox is pretty much assembled now so just need to fit up the block etc and wait till i get the car back from the painters and it will be complete!

Yeah, I started with a A+ MG Metro block and head and mated it to a late 1275 GT G/box. I broke the shaft on the intermediate drop gear a couple of years ago - I think it only had 60 hp at the wheels but I was giving it a hard time at taupo. Lol we had to tow it with a rope all the way back to Auckland. I can also recomend getting a cross pin diff because if you are spinning the wheels the spider gear shafts wear through there hardening and turn down pretty fast. I have tried making up bronze bushes - but they just got destroyed. I am on my 3rd one but I do a few motokhanas and trackwork. It is one of the bits I am swapping out at the moment with my latest rebuild.
yea i would like a cross pin diff, just a matter of funds if you know what i mean there not cheap

Well i have a AP racing Metro Turbo verto clutch which is actually meant to have more clamping than original turbo plate and 190mm Helix organic clutch plate which i dont have much information on but i have been told that with this setup should be good for 130HP+
