  1. I dunno if I should start a new thread... Any performance orientated tires in "14 these days? Are eagers any good or just used for the look?

I purchased some nankangs which I found pretty good they are about 165/55/14 I obnly had 6inch rims so wanted some narrow ass low profiles which didn't leave me many options at all.

picked them up for $130 a tyre down from 180 from tonys tyres.

  2. I hope you are serious.

    Yea

Pretty darn serious, guy at work in bringing some rules book thingy on certs regs for roof chops my mate gareth is keen to help me and the paints I work sith want me to do it and said they'll paint it for me if i do it.

  3. a 195 50 may open up a better list of options than the 60 series if you can handle the lower profile.

I can't really, im supposed to run a 65 but its currently on a 60, speedo is a touch out and its starts reving a bit hight for motor way cruising as soon as its get to a 100 so I dont want to go any smaller than 60 :/ 55 would be abosolute max.

  4. seriously hope it looks like this:

    toyota-bb-07.jpg

Similar it ticks similar boxes without being quite as cool

    Lowerd - tick

    Wheels - tick

    stupid body kit - tick

    stupidly large exhaust - tick

    tints - tick

Whale tail - about to order

So I do meet most of those horrible criteria

Plan is roof chop on mine though

  5. So I'm looking and buying some new tyres, I want to get 195/60/15, can change that slightly if it will help, what I'd like to know is what to look for when buying new tyres, what to avoid, is it worth spending a real bit of coin over the cheapies or go for middle of the road?

This is just for my new daily, I brought nankangs for my last daily and they made a massive differnce over my bald tyres the car came with.

Would Ideally like to get some with a rim protector lip partly for looks and partly coz I'm scared as hell ill curb my new wheels. Also something with a bit of grip again.

What should I be looking at, thanks!

  6. mybad that was meant to read for $150 more, so $400, was half cut when i typed that.

lol sweet so you purchased an actual lucas electronic for 400 and its the better way to go in your opinion?

where'd you end up buying it from?

  7. I bought one of the copies of the lucas dizzy of trademe for $250, like Mk1Mad said they are copies are arent perfect. My clips that hold the cap on are all loose and tacky, if had the cap come off and move around a few times, this did my head in so i bought the real thing for $150 and is so much better quality construction etc!

The real thing for $150, could you please eleborate?

  8. Manufacturer's website?

in english? would be keen for this!

you need to go to the japanese website for the manufacturer eg http://www.toyota.co.jp/ for toyota and scroll through the catalogue there.

I remember looking into this same thing awhile ago for the old man, One thing I remember seeing was a notice (on the toyota site from memory) thatt said they will not sell a car to someone in a foreign country where a dealer for that manufacturer already exists. so basically if you want a hilux you have to get it from toyota NZ you cant bypass them and get on from Toyota Japan.

In saying that, there are ways you could get around that.

Just buy a corolla thats already here.

I can't navigate a .jp site very well, would also be nice to know what features the car had if were interested in buying.

I think there would be no new car warranty on a private import.

This would suck but would be acceptable to get a ideal car.

Have tried speaking to a couple people, doesn't look like its going to happen, CX-5 for the win i think
