I got an Escort brought up to AK from CHCH at the start of the year through Toll Tranzlink. Cost around $630 I believe.
-
I always understood that 4-2-1's are suited for fast-road applications, low end torque etc. and 4-1 was more suited to race use where power in the higher revs is necessary?
-
Even better! haha thanks guys

Hey is anyone able to tell me if you need a cert for adjustable shocks? Looking at some Gaz's for the Escort.

Hey just on the topic of headers, what's the best way to get some 4-2-1 headers for a 1600Xflow? Coby, custom? Don't really wanna spend more than $500.

Front. Sorry for the vague question haha!

Yeah sorry should've been more clear. Car is Mk1 Escort.
Thanks Raizer, will have a looksy this weekend.

Remove engine?
-
Hi all,
My engines got a slight leak from the sump/crankshaft area. I believe it is either the sump seal or the crankshaft oil seal. To change either of these seals will the engine need to be removed? Or can I work from below?
Cheers.

Alrighty, found the leak. It's leaking into the floor well from the master cylinder. Does this just require the cylinder to be replaced?
-
Sweet as. Damn this things costing me haha
wheel cylinders cost fuckall.
and man they must be FUCKED if they are leaking that much
Yeah I know they're cheap. But it aint the first thing I've had to fix! lol

Haven't got a jack and axle stands at the mo. But I guess it gives me something to do this weekend. So is it possible to leak inside the drums?

Hey all,
Got a wee issue with my brakes. Seems like I am losing brake fluid from the master cylinder but I can't seem to work out how or where from. From what I could see without jacking the car up it appears that none of the calipers or cylinders are leaking and there is no oily marks on my garage floor.
I lost about 1/4 of the bottle overnight while the car was sitting in the garage
Any suggestions?
Ta!

Done, thanks all.

Auckland.

For all the trouble it's worth I think I may just stick with 6inchers haha!

Shot guys. And just a few more questions. How do you go about rolling the guards? Will I need to repaint the panels? And do they appear alot larger?
-
Sweet as. Does tyre rubbage affect WOFs?
-
Cheers bro. Thanks for the advice. Give me a buzz about those wheels whenever.

At the moment I'm not lowered at all. Here she is:
Could possible be interested in rims if funds permit.
Cheers dude.

So it is possible then? I was hoping to not have to roll the guards. Any suggested tyre sizes or is it now a game of trying to see what works?

Hey all,
Looking to switch wheels on my escort to something with a little more dish - similar to Low'n'slows wheels.
Will 7inch wheels fit under standard mk1 escort guards or will they need to be rolled?
Also while I'm here, how much do you guys reckon I could sell these wheels for? Roh minilite copys with very new (crap) Nankang tyres:
Thanks!

Removin Leaf Spring troubles - Mk1 Escort
in Tech Talk
Posted
Hey all,
Just need some quick advice. I'm trying to remove my leaf springs from my mk1 Escort to get them lowered but I cannot seem to removed the damn bolts at each end!
I've managed to remove the rear bolt from the drivers side and that's now loose. But how do I removed the fronts and the passenger rear (hits the spare wheel well).
Any tips or advice to remove these old buggers?
Thanks
