  1. If you are going to use kerosene as I do with my parts washer, or diesel. Unless you or your girl/boyfriend enjoy dry, cracked and blistered hands you invest in some good quality wash gloves. Dermatitis is not fun and takes months to clear up sometimes..

  2. eww to both 4K and subaru suggestion, I have daydreamed about an Alfa flat four, would fit nicely- the exhausts would exit through the holes in the engine bay as designed. Factory down drafts and they rev up as hard as your mum.

I put a Ford V4 in one years ago, went much better than expected and bolted up pretty easily.

Sounded like poos though and broke axles weekly. Looking back on it I am quite embarrassed at my appalling engineering, sheet metal gearbox mount etc

  3. Oh man, got worried when I saw this was waiting for the chop.. Looks good man, you got the proportions right

Still side valve? Chuck something epic in there and paint black, I have a Daimler V8 sitting here I have been saving to throw in a lowlight one day.

    Jealous as

  4. DAT180 had it, kinda. It's a Simca 8 Sports coupe, Pininfarina designed and based on an earlier design for a Cistialia. Could be a 9, same body but the chrome work even though a lot is unoriginal. Looks more like it came from an 8.

Look good in a cabrio 8)

  5. possibly a blocked rear brake hose? I would start there then start looking at the master cylinder. It's possible the washer that sits on the piston is stuck and the front circuit is working but not the rear. Also try a gravity bleed, if it's been an empty circuit it's good to just open taps and walk away for a bit.

  6. My friend's Mercedes had some badly repaired accident damage. He had three testing station warrants prior but for as long as he could remember it creaked and groaned at low speeds and wandered on the motorway. I fitted new drag link and shocks, still wandered like hell. When I put it on the hoist one day the drivers side spring came out with a bang, all the spot welds on the chassis leg having let go. Spot welds were rusty as, so had been fractured for a long time. How the testing station missed that I will never know, probably because they don't drive the cars. Still it was highly visible, I guess coz it was NZ new and 2005 they weren't checking the body for rust let alone chassis fractures. Good place to go I find if you have howling front wheel bearings or rumbling drivetrain :/ Hard to test for that without going round the block.

$4500 later, motor and box out, interior stripped and front chassis legs welded up and the Mercedes is as good as new..

  7. Your car: Volkswagen

    model/year etc: 64 Kombi

    engine: 1.6 aircooled

performance mods done to car: driven to death, diesel oil as it was laying around, exhaust speed holes

0-60mph Time: 3.725 seconds depending on atmospheric pressure (downhill, possibly in flames)

  8. Brought a BMW convertible from turners damaged auctions, was a write off due to water damage. Found a brand new navman, Gucci female sunnies and an iphone 3 all in the glovebox.

Once found a mummified severely dried out ounce under the back seat of an Oldsmobile Toronado, ex mongrel mob head car. It was un smokeable tho, came with some oldschool 80's zigzag's

I also keep buying cars with new or near new batteries, sometimes gel even! Needless to say they don't get sold with them

  9. I had my Mini registered to my old company, LMVD no less.. Just found out today it is de registered after a year on hold, no reminder notice.

No remorse or compromise either, their stance is it's the owners responsibility to check on these things.

I will be signing up and supporting this site, if only to protect my parked up shitters

  10. Would you like to borrow my time machine to go back to the future- to the Vauxhall parts department circa 1970's? The time tunnel might trip you out a bit and you might end up making your mum fall in love with you or some other weird shit. Otherwise I would recommend going down to Fortress fastenings, or if no luck there go to or ring Burnsco, the marine outfit, they carry some weird cable fixings in stock for boats etc

  11. Ummm we are talking about a 95 Ford, ecu transmission- i don't think so Tim.

Solenoids? only the japs were dumb enough to pursue that technological black hole. Check all external adjustments, kick down cable first, followed by getting the manual and checking if there are front and rear band adjusters accessible without dropping pan.

Would help if you provdied us with a transmission manufacturer and model code.
