Sounds good to me, I'll talk to the GF and see what she wants to do. I suggested that we get one to store up in the shed uncase the minx engine ever lets go after it's 40 years of hardship. Can you explain what the internal differences/advantages are with the Hunter engines?

I guess being the alloy head motor they have more power and are a bit quieter other than that I dont know the differences/advantages sorry :?

Fuck forgot about this Hillman discussion, the main difference between the Hunter motor and earlier Arrow units which has been overlooked..

    5 main bearings versus 3!!!!!!!

Stronger bottom end and much more balanced, the earlier motors were known for throwing conrods through the block and infact happened to me twice whilst engine braking/breaking in Minxes..

  2. I can't believe diesel got thrown into the discussion as superheating diesel is the most retarded thing I've ever heard.. Anyone remember what happens to diesel inside a cylinder? Or the temperatures required to ignite under pressure?

Superheating fuel on the other hand, especially in cars does work and works so well you wonder why it wasn't more widely used- especially in colder climes.

The whole point of heating fuel is to help the atomisation process and prevent droplets forming as those droplets often miss the combustion process entirely hence increase in HC's

I used to run a length of steel pipe inside my top radiator hose on My Superminx, after the pump of course. Insulated and kept from vibration and with superheated water, drawn into the engine via the manifold below the carb, heated by a coil of pipe around the downpipe. So it entered as steam.

Used to manage 40mpg in a combination of town and open road and could easily pull the tonne

also my exhaust never left black spots on startup after that or smoke even on choke..

Which got pushed in after only a few minutes.

Will try and find photos of the setup if anyone is interested. keen to do it again and experiment more with it as I think I could get it perfect with more development

Exhaust recirculation sounds like a waste of time to me, if you were searching for economy and performance the goal is to minimalise unburnt fuel in the exhaust.. If theres enough there to recycle- your doing it wrong...

Supercharger is always win, even exhaust driven ones
